taut thriller,
This review is from: Code Name: Princess (Mass Market Paperback)
The "package" was supposed to be secure in an FBI safe house in the American northwest, but the enemy penetrated security. Two agents are dead and the package that Agent "Aunt Moira" was personally guarding before they killed her is gone. Though still recovering from rib injuries, no one knows Washington State like Navy Seal Hawk Mackenzie. He tracks the killers to recover the "package", Princess, a Koala bear.Hawk thinks these pros will not head to Canada, but instead will remain local. He goes to a hotel only to find a woman with a fake identity taking a shower in his room. He assumes she is one of the thieves; he knocks her out. The woman turns out to be hotel investigator Jess Mulcahey working an undercover room switch testing a clerk's management potential. The civilian is caught in the recovery effort that pits Commandos against killers. Bullets fly everywhere, but the most dangerous person to Jess' well being is the SEAL who knocked her out when they first met as she and Hawk fall in love while teaming up in the CODE NAME: PRINCESS scenario. The sequel to CODE NAME: NANNY is an exhilarating tale starring the twin sister of the first tale's heroine and the best friend of the male protagonist from that novel. The story line is action, action, and more action though the readers will appreciate the feistiness and intelligence of Jess. Hawk is more typical of the hero of the romantic suspense thriller, a hunk who hooks the audience. The Skye is the limit for an author who provides a taut thriller starring two characters that fans will appreciate. Harriet Klausner

The promos for this book are pretty misleading. What was advertised as fluff is really a pretty good romantic suspense novel. Jess Mulcahey, sister of Summer from Code Name Nanny, is a hotel inspector, charged with finding out all aspects of poorly performing hotels. After bribing a desk clerk for a better room(one of her tests), she ends up in the room of Navy SEAL Hawk Mackenzie, who is on a secret assignment to find a stolen Koala named Princess(far fetched, but fun). A series of mistake and mishaps throw the two together over and over again, with alot of action and danger thrown in for good measure. This is a very quick read and I really enjoyed it.

A Fun Read!,

This review is from: Code Name: Princess (Mass Market Paperback)
Since I have not read the first in this series (Code Name: Nanny) I was not familiar with character's, nor did I come to this read with any specific expectations. As a result I found this read to be fun with a unique storyline, and great characters that I enjoyed spending time with.Jess finds herself in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with what looks like to be the wrong guy. And if this is not enough, she is in a situation of her own making. (I won't give this part away since it's a big part of the story) Hawk is on a mission and this Navy SEAL is tired, wet, and ready for bed. What he is not ready for is finding a rather curvey singing off-key babe in his hotel bathroom. Well, now he has to figure out the how, why, and what of his unexpected guest. Of course this is going to be easier said then done, and when all is over, and explanations have been give, Jess and Hawk find themselves trapped in an elevator, and each learns a little bit more about the other. This should be the end, but instead it's just the beginning. Will they both survive to see the end of a very important mission? As I said previously, this was a fun story and one that I recommend if one is looking for a quick and easy read. Hawk and Jess are not your average "romance characters" and as a result are fun. Izzy from some of Ms. Skye's previous titles is here with a rather substantial roll, and it was fun to "see" him again. If the reader is new to Ms. Skye this will not be an issue as Ms. Skye explains who he is. Overall this was a read that I would recommend and suggest that you not overlook. Highly recommended reading! Excellent!,

Jess Mulcahey is a hotel investigator, undercover, and finds herself being held captive by a gorgeous commando. Being good at escapes, Jess quickly gets free. But Fate keeps putting the Navy SEAL back in her path. A couple of steamy hours locked in an elevator makes them see each other in a softer light.Lieutenant Hawk Mackenzie is on a mission with Izzy. (A genius from five other Christina Skye novels.) They are searching for Princess, an ultra-secret transgenic koala bear that had been kidnapped. Jess ends up getting involved. Soon they are dodging bullets and ducking cold-blooded killers that pursue them. ***** Christina Skye novels blend sensuality and intrigue together to create the most unforgettable tales! In this one, another Navy SEAL meets his female match. Izzy is not the only one we get a peek at again. Remember Summer and Gabe's story? Jess is Summer's twin sister. So cameos from Summer and Gabe appear too. Excitement, adventure, and romance overflow in "Code Name: Princess". No boredom within these pages, readers. Highly recommended reading. ***** Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

Snore City,

I yawned most of the way through this one. It was hard to feel any empathy for the heroine, Jess, who made a career out of being a wuss. Jess just can't get over being locked in a garden shed when she was 16, so she suffers from claustrophobia. Had Jess been repeatedly locked in a dark cellar as a child, I'd have cared. Once at 16 makes me feel like yelling, "Get over it!" Our hero, Hawk, is a Navy SEAL on assignment to protect a magic koala bear. He meets Jess when he finds her in his shower. Jess is a hotel inspector who changed rooms as a staff test and wound up in Hawk's. Hawk thinks she's an agent. Jess and Hawk get stuck in an elevator on their way out of the hotel, and to help ease Jess' cloying claustrophobia, Hawk willingly gives in to her suggestion that they have sex. At this point, the author seems to have run out of fresh ideas, so she apparently dug some old Harlequin romances out of her attic and took inspiration, if not whole paragraphs, from them. I like strong, independent, aggressive heroines, and Jess was a throwback to 80's romances complete with looking up to Hawk like a big, strong man and bleakly realizing those two hours in the elevator are all she'll ever have of him. From the moment Jess and Hawk emerge from the elevator, Hawk spends the rest of the book trying to get rid of her. He's a Navy SEAL on a dangerous mission tracking bioterrorists and he wants her to be safe. Lost in a maze of her sad introspections, Jess always manages to be in the right place at the wrong time, and always manages to be in the middle of Hawk's mission. Things finally wrap up when the missing koala bear turns up in the same garden shed Jess gets locked in on some crazy lady's property. Hawk and Jess shoot a few bad guys and then Hawk leaves to finish his assignment. We meet Jess again four months later, still pining for Hawk until the day he shows up, and then they ride off into the sunset. Our hero, Hawk, is an interesting, cool guy, but we don't get to know him well enough. He's too busy being a SEAL. This book was a disastrous marriage between an old-fashioned pulp romance and a chick spy thriller. The author simply doesn't have the skill to intertwine the two, and needs perhaps to take a few lessons on the art of the romance novel. Her ideals are dusty.

Picked this up at an airport to wile away a long flight. First time for me with CS. This book was entertaining, diverting and HOT. The suspense was pretty good for a romance genre and I thoroughly enjoyed it.The main characters are what you would expect. She was adorable and he was HOT (did I say that before? :D) and I loved L.Z. Just learned this was the second in the series. I will definitely look for the first on Summer and Gabe.

Although this isn't my favorite Navy Seal book in the series, it still rates pretty high up there! As some might say they get tired of basically the same type casted hero and heroine, I still absolutely fall in love with her books. Her Navy Seals captivate me and are truly my fave novels to read. I like her Draycott Abbey series but I love the Codenames. Plus Izzy is just the greatest.I highly reccommend.

Laughable Plot of Furry Creature & Experimental Drug,
This review is from: Code Name: Princess (Mass Market Paperback)
I find the plot hilarious! The intimate scene in the elevator between Jess & Hawk has a remarkable display of acrobatic skills that even the Cirque du Soleil would find hard to match! This acrobatic feat is achieved courtesy of the Dept of Defence giving an experimental drug to Hawk, a Navy Seal. One side effect of the drug is that he would have the hormones of a 15 year old teenager making him also very well endowed!!Next hilarious moment was a furry koala bear which has undergone genetic mutation and needs to be rescued from Colombian underthugs. Muscled men of Navy Seals against Columbian bad guys all after a furry ball of an animal, very odd combination set up to provide comic relief. It is fast paced action from start to finish with comic relief thrown in. For me, it was hilarious!!

I found this book after spending a good hour searching through the romance section of the bookstore. I am only about half way through with this book but I highly recommend it. I find myself putting aside my homework just to read a few more pages. This book is addicting. I love it!

Like its prequel, CODE NAME: NANNY, this book is an okay read. It is not quite as "busy" with subplots as NANNY, which makes it a little better, but not enough to rate another star.
