Fiction/Literature COPS is a police story set in the late 1970's in the sourthern California city of Santa Ana, yet many of the events chronicled could just have well taken place today in any city of America. Author, Victor Paez Torres, skillfully utilizes symbolism and realism to portray the dynamics of Latino duality and introspection as these Latino cops endeavor to defeat the beast of racism.

About the Author
Mr. Torres lives in southern California with his family and owns his own private investigation firm. He was, in fact a former police officer at Santa Ana during the 1970's and experienced first hand the vicious racial attacks directed at him and his fellow Latino Peace Officers Association members for speaking out against racism with the SAPD.
He is a syndicated columnist, lecturer and police reformer, having recently authored a community policing concept entitled, Community Empowerment Policing, a collaborative partnership between the police and the communities they serve.
