The author, Linda Meyerholz, practices what she preaches, 24/7!!,
By
This review is from: Codependency Sucks (Paperback)
Not only have I read CODEPENDENCY SUCKS, several times: I have also given copies of it to numerous friends and had the special priviledge of working in therapy with the author. Linda Meyerholz has not written a word in this book that she has not lived herself. She has helped thousands of us (hundreds of whom I know personally) who have used her insight and ideas to take our own lives from deeply frustrating to highly gratifying - free from the interference of "those people"whom we allowed to sap our freedom and self-esteem. If you want a tool to help you start eliminating from your life those interferences you don't wany any more, this is definitely it. If you want more mediocre, don't take this recommendation.

This review is from: Codependency Sucks (Paperback)
It was refreshing to look at and think about societal issues influencing codependency versus personal family related analysis.Linda Meyerholz presents her thoughts related to behavior influences within various aspects of daily life and industries in an interesting thought provoking manner with a sense of humor interwined. Food for thought for a balanced codependency diet.

No more victims, only voluteers,
By Sharon F. (Miami, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Codependency Sucks (Paperback)
Codependency Sucks is an eye-opening revelation re the history of co-dependency in the modern world, as well as a practical guide to recovery from this disease. In true recovery fashion, Linda advocates the 12-Steps for healing from this disease - I don't know anything better for people who have been as scarred as we are from it. It is NOT a book that "blames the victim" - it is a compassionate guide on how to NOT allow the same unhealthy, insane, abusive men and women into my life as before, by focusing on my recovery, and thus, being more in touch with the feelings I'm having when I see them coming - I simply do not engage with them anymore. The humor is wonderful - another sign for me of the recovery process: having laughter and joy in my life again. Thank you, Linda, for an enlightening book, written from the heart - and from your own experience.

Reading this book has changed my life!,
By "amethystwoman" (Southeastern US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Codependency Sucks (Paperback)
Unlike other books on codependency that just list symptoms, Linda gives examples from her own life that helped me identify the relationships in my life that need attention. After reading this book and learning about codependency, I have begun to make changes in my life that are having a profound impact on my happiness. This book may just give you back your life...or you may begin to enjoy your life in ways that you never thought were possible. In my opinion - this book helps victims, of all kinds of abuse, learn that in order to be walked on...you have to lie down. This book will help you get up and gain some of your self esteem back. Don't hesitate to add this well written, easy to read, and life changing book to your library.

Taking Responsibility,
By A Customer
This review is from: Codependency Sucks (Paperback)
After reading this book, Meyerholz makes it clear that the victim has a shared responsibilty in an abusive relationship. She clearly points out that the victim of abuse, being comfortable with that scenario, is just as responsible for the continuing problems as the abuser is. After reading this book I've come to understand that I as an individual have the power to change what is happening to me and have very clear choices that I can make. I think Meyerholz has hit the nail on the head. We need to evaluate our rolls in these relationships and make the required changes in our lives so we don't continue to be victims of abusive relationships.

Complex relationships need to strive for a healthy balance.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Codependency Sucks (Paperback)
Codependency sucks is a play on words designed to appropriately describe both the emotional impact as well as the literal description of codependency sucking the very life out of your emotional soul. A must for all complex relationships seeking that healthy balance. It is based upon the twelve step self help programs and stresses the fact that it's not just the "alcoholic" that needs to admit they need help.

Linda Meyerholz is quintessential in understanding the dynamics of co-dependency. Her book gives an in depth analysis of what co-dependency and how deeply rooted it is in an individual and society. "Codependency Sucks" was a major breakthrough in helping me understand my own and other's human dysfunctions. It is a must read for anyone who wants to recover from the hurt, learn how to heal, and expand one's horizons
