Book Description

November 8, 2010
This is a very timely book that shows merchants the importance of building a data base of their current customers in order to take advantage of the explosive growth of mobile marketing and QR Codes. This book is designed for the store owner who is trying to understand the basics of Mobile Marketing, as well as figure out the best way to implement a Mobile Marketing strategy for their business. The author shows the business owner how to build their customer data base by providing the tools and training that allows business owners (many for the first time) collect their customers' personally identifiable information (email and SMS text numbers) so that they can later market to these existing customers with content rich emails and SMS texts that offer coupons and discounts for products and services. Throughout the book, the author gently prods the reader to use their smart phone technology to scan QR Codes (Quick Response Codes) embedded within the book to read articles on various websites, read portions of other books on Amazon.com, watch movies on YouTube, and read research reports on the explosive growth of mobile marketing. This book does an excellent job explaining the changes in marketing methods that will allow the merchants the opportunity to create additional profits by marketing to their existing customer base in a way that they have not been able to do so before. The QR Code technology is easy to use and implement. The author explains how to build this marketing infrastructure for the do-it-yourself business owners, and also shows the reader how to use his website (http://www.mobilemarketingqrcodes.com) to create the entire infrastructure within an hour. This book is a must read for any small business owner who is looking for more ways to drive foot traffic through the front door and add to the bottom line.

1.0 out of 5 stars I was scammed! Don't buy this book! February 18, 2011

THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST $20 I HAVE EVER SPENT! From the moment I opened the box I was disappointed to find 50 pages with a font size my grandmother would use (seriously at least 20 pt). So i hoped that at least it would be content-rich to make up for size. The first 24 pages talk about the history (blah, blah) and the last 12 pages about how for $29 per month Mr. Weir can set it up for you, pushing his site and service. Throw in a few 1" x 1" QR codes for samples and that leaves literally 4 pages of what is involved in setting this up yourself. This, of course, is detailed at length, and presented in such a way so as to discourage most. He then advises you IN BOLD to use HIS SITE (lets give him credit, he does introduce this section as his site) Anybody who knew enough about QR codes to order this book already knew most of the information in here and how to generate their own code. I think a "dummy" book would offer more info than he does. What I expected was more information to really implement QR codes in Mobile Marketing, as the title suggests. If he spent as much time on this subject as he did touting his program I would have given this this a thumbs up. RATHER, I GIVE IT A THUMBS DOWN, BIG-TIME!!! BTW - I don't know who wrote those glowing reports, but I suspect they must be related :(

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Good June 3, 2011
I wasted my time with this book. Big Fonts, bad grammar and poor spelling.

I did not even learn anything I did not already know about qr codes or mobile marketing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Book Review June 27, 2011

Not a great publication for the cost. Guy is trying to sell a bunch of other products instead of getting deep into general marketing of QR codes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing book May 28, 2011

This book feels as if it were written in Word, double spaced, with a large font to get the number of pages up to 50 to meet the teacher's assignment size. It is also poorly proofread. Straight is misspelled as strait. Ungrammatical phrasing is used: "I admire people liked you" and "It doesn't matter how works" and "All you have to do signup for a low monthly fee."

The content is thin. A lot of time is spent telling you how much the author admires you for buying his book and how important the subject matter is without actually telling you anything concrete. Much of the content that there is is provided by QR codes that link to other people's websites and YouTube videos. This book is more like an extended web page with QR Codes instead of links. I think more information can be gleaned by looking up QR Code in Wikipedia or doing a Google search than is provided by this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally - a road map for business owners! January 18, 2011
I just finished reading Michael's book today and even though I rarely review anything - I had to give my thoughts. To start with, I have read many, many marketing books. Most give you tons of theory and ideas, but rarely give you any true way to go forward with anything. You leave them thinking - wow, great ideas - now what. Michael gives you clear ideas on something very, very cutting edge. And you can tell from his writing that he is really excited about them and really wants small business owners to get on board and take advantage of QR codes. Plus he has codes sprinkled throughout the book so it's a really fun, interactive reading experience (plus you get to see what these codes can really offer).

If you are a small business (or a marketing consultant, like me), I highly suggest you pick up this fun & easy read. Your business will thank you with profits!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Resource!!!!! August 22, 2011

Revised 12/15/11 - As an internet marketing consultant, I had come to the conclusion that to truly help my clients, I needed to get a better handle on mobile marketing. In searching for resources to help me get a really strong grip on QR Codes and mobile marketing, I came across this book and decided to order it. What a smart decision that was. From the book I learned about his mobile platform and his course called "The Local Consultant" - both of which I quickly signed up for. I have never regretted my choice - in fact I believe that doing so is one of the smarted choices I have made since getting involved in the internet marketing world. Since then, I have become a great fan of Michael Weir.

But it was last week when I really learned how far Michael is willing to go to help others. I had an unusual request for him, and I was under a very tight deadline as I was due to make a presentation to a client the following day.

As soon as Michael got my email and heard about my situation, I got a call from him and was quickly reassured that my problem would be solved and it was. Michael spend about four hours making some modifications on his platform just for my situation - something he really didn't need to do. On top of that, I unknowingly woke him up in the wee hours of the next morning by sending him a text message which I figured he would see when he got up - not at 3:59AM (my time zone is 3 hours ahead of his). To my amazement and embarrassment, I heard back from him in approximately three minutes letting me know that a problem I had anticipated was all worked out. When I apologized to him later in the day, he couldn't have been nicer.

I thank Michael for a great course, a great mobile marketing platform and FANTASTIC customer service.
