3.0 out of 5 stars Moderately useful to me...
I spoke with my physician yesterday about THE COENZYME Q10 PHENOMENA and he suggested the jury is still out on this topic. He says it probably won't hurt me but, it is relatively expensive and there is no real medical evidence that it does what some purport it does. Dr. Stephen Sinatra has an entirely different take on the topic so if you want to know more his...

Coenzyme Q10 (often abbreviated as CoQ10) is essential for human life. It catalyzes the formation and utilization of energy in every human cell. Fortunately, our bodies manufacture CoQ10. Unfortunately, some people do not manufacture enough CoQ10 to keep them healthy, especially as they grow older. Research has shown that deficiency of CoQ10 is the major cause of cardiomyopathy, and congestive heart failure and these diseases can often be cured by CoQ10 supplementation. Even many heart transplant candidates have no longer needed a heart transplant after supplementation with CoQ10. Now it has been found that CoQ10 can also prevent -- and, sometimes, even cure -- cancer, as well a variety of other diseases. Dr. Stephen Sinatra -- a board-certified cardiologist -- is a world-renowned expert on CoQ10 and its health benefits. I beg your to buy and read this book and heed Dr. Sinatra's information and advice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Informative, May 13, 2005
This review is from: The Coenzyme Q10 Phenomenon (Paperback)
This books has lots of usefull information packed in. And is very easy to read. I bought this book to see if Q10 would be a usefull treatment for gum disease. One of the key factors that your body is low of Q10. After reading this book and using the tools I learned in there I have increased my health 10 fold. My gum disease has disapeared, I am more alert and sleep more sound. Things I didn't even think Q10 could help with. Not to mention the appearance of my skin overall. I think anyone that is looking to help increase their state of health should read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aging? Try Co-Q 10, July 25, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Coenzyme Q10 Phenomenon (Paperback)
Again Sinatra has written an easily understood book. This one explains the body's need for additional enzymes to battle the effects that living in this busy, modern (and polluted) world. Co-Q 10 works with our immune system to rejuvinate our tissues. My father has been taking this enzyeme for his heart and is seeing improvement. It is becoming better known and discussed in the herbal/natural medicine circles. He buys his from a site, PapaNature, where he has had good service, additional information and other natural "medicines" as well. In fact, Sinatra's book is referred to there too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for doctors and patients, June 3, 2000
This review is from: The Coenzyme Q10 Phenomenon (Paperback)
This book has been a wonderful discovery. I think it's a must for doctors and patients, but especially for doctors as a starting point to develop alternative therapies. History has proved that conventional medicine is good but not enough. All-natural alternatives like this are the future of great health and a must for the aging. Five stars for sure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, but a newer version is available, September 19, 2010
This review is from: The Coenzyme Q10 Phenomenon (Paperback)
I bought L carnitine and the heart, The CoQ10 phenomenon and The Sinatra Solution by Dr Stephen T. Sinatra all at once.

I was very impressed by Sinatra's ideas and the way his books are put together. They are very easy to read for laypeople, but also contain very complex and detailed information for those that would like it. There is also a lot of useful information given on dosages and types of supplements and how they differ and which are best and the information is all well referenced.

As it turned out, my buying of the first 2 books was unnecessary, as 'The Sinatra Solution' book is a summary of both of them and also slightly more up to date.

The information in this book is ESSENTIAL for anyone that has M.E., or any other mitochondrial or cardiac or neurological disorder. (As is explained in the HFME paper 'CoQ10 (ubiquinol), L carnitine, D ribose and M.E.'). I can't recommend L carnitine, magnesium and ubiquinol more. I hope patients will look into them and read the facts rather than just rejecting them because they are not yet totally 'mainstream.' This has far more to do with substances like carnitine being unpatentable than any lack of scientific support for these supplements!

'The Sinatra Solution' is an ideal book for patients and also for patients to give to their doctors. I highly recommend it.

Note that ubiquinol is the best form of CoQ10, not ubiquinone - which is inferior.

3.0 out of 5 stars Moderately useful to me..., December 4, 2004
This review is from: The Coenzyme Q10 Phenomenon (Paperback)
I spoke with my physician yesterday about THE COENZYME Q10 PHENOMENA and he suggested the jury is still out on this topic. He says it probably won't hurt me but, it is relatively expensive and there is no real medical evidence that it does what some purport it does. Dr. Stephen Sinatra has an entirely different take on the topic so if you want to know more his experiences with patients his book is the place to begin. Sinatra is a cardiologist, but in my experience they don't necessarily know more about high blood pressure than an doctor of internal medicine (my doctor). Apparently, the some of the chemicals that show up in blood work that can be interpreted as "you just had a heart attack" can also show up for other reasons.

Dr. Sinatra says that when you improve heart health, you also improve your overall health. He says links exist between the heart and degenerative disease such as Diabetes, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's diseases. He says in his experience if Coenzyeme Q10 is depleted from too much exercise, pollution, eating poorly, or taking drugs that interfere with it, patients have a higher incidence of radical-based degenerative diseases. Based on that, I say, that perhaps what we need to do is be careful of the kind of exercise we take, eat well, and fight for the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts.

Dr. Sinatra also suggests the Mediterranean Diet with lots of vegetables and fruits is a good place to begin if you want to improve your diet. He includes 13 pages of recipes at the end of his book.
