Product Description

Flavor: Colombian Supremo | Size: 16 Ounce (Pack of 3)

Supremo is the highest grade of Colombian coffee available. This is the coffee that off-the-shelf brands are trying to emulate when they offer “100% Colombian” blends, and not one of them comes close to the quality of a fresh roasted Colombian Supremo bean. These large beans create a medium bodied and sweet tasting coffee with a rich flavor and aroma. We roast our Colombian Supremo as a light roast, giving it a light cinnamon coloration.

Reviewing this after the fourth order of it; three rounds have been good fresh (within a month of roasting, good for 'mail order')..

It is also reasonably priced cheaper than Folgers!

I'm a long time coffee junkie. I think I had my first cup when I was five or six years old. One of my most potent memories as a child growing up in New York was going to Schraffts or Chock Full 'O Nuts to enjoy a cup of coffee, New York style. I've gone from stove top percolated pots to electric pots to camp-fire brewed to drip machines. And I must include several years of "chow hall" coffee while in the military. I've been using whole beans for many years and even spent a few years roasting my own beans. In all, some sixty years of varied levels of products & as varied means of delivery. Then a friend recommended Yirgacheffe. Now I cannot compare Coffee Bean Direct's Yirgacheffe product to other roasters but I can say, without exception, this is one fine tasting coffee. Two cups, prepared with a French press, and my day begins in a most positive way. The price is right, the quality is outstanding and the taste - well you have to try it for yourself. Do yourself a favor, you'll enjoy the flavor. Coffee Bean Direct has a winner with this coffee.

This is a really nice Kenyan, very similar to the Batdorf & Bronson Kenya AA. Perfectly roasted, with the bright acidity that is a Kenyan hallmark, and definitely more assertive than the Diedrich offering. I'd rate this as a tie with the Batdorf & Bronson, with Diedrich coming up a close second.

NOTE: This review was for the Kenya AA, NOT the Kenya AB. Apparently the AA isn't currently available, and the title was switched without creating a new ASIN. I haven't tried the Kenya AB.

I had had this fabulous coffee from Coffee Bean Direct and was happy to see it on Amazon Subscribe-and-Save at a reduced price. I was disappointed when I got it - I don't know if it sat on the shelf in the warehouse too long or what, but it was not of the same quality as when I get it directly from the seller. I recently ordered it from the seller, just to be sure, and did a taste comparison - If I had tasted this coffee from Amazon first, I would have thought it was lousy coffee, which is not the case.

I debated how to do this rating - I don't want the company maligned - but also don't want to skew the rating for the coffee that is sitting around in the warehouse, getting stale....

Purchased three pounds. Arrived well packaged. Am trying to find a replacement roaster of this blend. This is good, but not great...we'll keep on looking.

I love this coffee. I tried the dark, and felt it was a bit too 'charcoally' tasting. This is not. It's smooth, has lots of chocolate notes and has an incredible aroma. It's not full bodied, so if that's what your seeking this won't be your favorite, but if you want something that simply tastes wonderful then this is it.

The description states that this is roasted the day they ship.
The first order I placed was 2 months old. I wrote Amazon to notify them and they kindly shipped me another order, free of charge.
Same roast date.

I made this in an espresso machine and a french press. It tastes like office coffee. Coffee flavored water.

Check your roast dates, YMMV. It's a white tag on the bottom. It's written in julian format.

What constitutes a good coffee is rather subjective. You can read countless reviews about it, but you don't know until you've tried it for yourself. Having enjoyed peaberry coffee (I think the spherical shape results in better roasting) from many different parts of the world , I gave this a shot based on the positive reviews posted and the great price. Boy, was I disappointed! The beans are light/medium in roast, has a mild subdued smell. The beans looked dry, but this is not uncommon for light roasts. I made a fine grind of the beans, and brewed it in a press. Sad to say, it was the most disappointing cup of coffee I have had in a long time. The flavor was stale, without any fruity characteristic of peaberries, and reminded me of a cheap cup of joe from a dirty diner. The worst part is I am stuck with 3 lbs of terrible coffee that cannot be returned (Amazon does not accept return of food items).

My reason for the low rating is that there was no "use by" date on the bag, making it difficult to know if the beans were old and not well cared for or if that's just the way Tanzanian peaberry beans roast up. Not sure how a manufacturer gets away without putting a date on their products, but this supplier has found some way to get around it. The coffee does taste good, although a hint of staleness exists, but the beans are totally dry: no oil, no moisture is present when they are ground. I've enjoyed peaberry coffees from Hawaii for years, peaberries are the best of the best beans. I've also come to enjoy African coffees for their full yet mild taste. So, to find peaberry coffee from Tanzania at such a great price was too much to pass up. I expect to finish up the coffee I've purchased, but probably wouldn't buy it again or buy any coffee from this supplier since I have no assurance of its freshness.
