Smoothjazz.com Review,

This review is from: Coffee Culture (Audio CD)
I don't know about you, but when I'm in a coffee house, I am inspired. Sure, the caffeinated beverages contribute to the creativity spark, but it's more than that. Coffee + Tea houses have become America's piazza where great minds gather to re-hydrate and pontificate or to visit with friends or catch up on a novel or perhaps even write one. Guitarist/Composer Stephanie Sante captures this evocative and ever so subtle electronica side of Lattes and Espressos in her new recording COFFEE CULTURE offering a full bodied brew of world beats, guitar rhythms, and a dash of electronic ambience. On this, her fourth album to date, all of the songs are coffee-themed, from "Cappachino" to "Macchiato," Sante captures the listener with deep, percolating grooves and textures throughout COFFEE CULTURE. "The new disc is a return to form for me," says Sante, who was tutored in classical and flamenco guitar. "Instrumentally, the common thread on Coffee Culture is the world beats and the guitar playing." For you non-coffee drinkers, Ms. Sante has whipped up the sultry, "Vanilla Steamer" and the exotic "Chai Chai" as well as the album's opening track, "Hot Cocoa." The artist's musical influences include Miles Davis, Pat Metheny, Kenny Burrel, Bill Frisell, Carlos Antonio Jobim as well as Andy Summers, Sade and St. Germain to name but a handful. Like a Frappuccino on Friday, Stephanie Sante's COFFEE CULTURE is refreshing, urbane and smooth. Spin it next time you're caffeinating. ~SANDY SHORE

What a great album! (Kudos to Stephanie.),
This review is from: Coffee Culture (Audio CD)
Those of you who know Stephanie's music will understand that this new album is a very different direction for her. Those who don't, well, don't be put off by the track titles...while they're either catchy and/or playful, underneath them lies a universe of sounds and rhythms that get the heart beating!
This new album has a fiery heart of jazz, mixed with many other elements that makes this album hard to classify. Smooth jazz turns into almost-world-beat to hard-core and then to laid back sounds and patterns that take the mind (and heart) for quite a journey. Every track is well worth a listen! (Until Amazon.com has arranged to carry samples of this album's tracks, you can find them here..just copy and paste into your browser window: (...) In my opinion, this album is not only one of her best but a tremendous stepping stone to a whole new journey in her career.
