4.0 out of 5 stars A smooth rich blend of coffee
There are a couple of things that I really enjoy about the Coffee People Kona Blend K-cups, their pricing is and outstanding value when compared to buying the K-cups at a retail location, and secondly the coffee is good. This is the a rich, smooth, and bold blend of coffee. It almost reminds me of Starbucks as it tastes like it has been roasted to a bold flavor. I like...

This is good coffee been drinking it for a year BUT no more! From last month Coffee People coffee has raised the price of a box of 50 by $7.75 per box makes this type of coffee too expensive to drink. Will look elsewhere for a more reasonable priced cup of joe. If you are on the automatic monthly 15% off plan beware you will get a surprise on your next order. This price...

This is the a rich, smooth, and bold blend of coffee. It almost reminds me of Starbucks as it tastes like it has been roasted to a bold flavor. I like to make this coffee when I want a little extra kick of coffee flavor to start my day. If you are a fan of bold tasting coffee I would definately recommend this coffee for you.

I've tried pretty much all of coffee people's extra bold K-cups. Kona is my personal favorite. It has a faint nutty flavor and is very smooth, not bitter (like black tiger), but still fairly strong. If you're looking for a coffee that you can drink everyday, I would try this coffee. Jetfuel, Donut shop, Black tiger, etc. are good for a while, but I got tired of them after a few days. I only drink those cups as breaks between my standby's (Kona and Organic). As far as "extra bold" goes, the cups definitely have a lot of coffee in them. A little bit of coffee spills out of all of the extra bold coffee people cups.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent coffee, questionable packaging method. Caveat emptor., July 20, 2010

Before I get to the coffee itself, I just want to reiterate a disclaimer to anyone who's thinking about buying this:

Yes it's a great price for 50 K-cups, and that is an unqualified statement - when you consider that the local supermarket has 18 for $10, it's an unbelievable value. However, the packaging and shipping method leaves something to be desired. The cardboard box you see in the picture is the shipping box - inside are 50 K-cups that were just thrown in. No peanuts, no molds, nothing at all. Just 50 loose K-cups in a shipping box. As a result, any dents the box might endure in shipping (it happens) could damage the K-cups themselves. I was lucky, as only four K-cups in my shipment had cosmetic dings and scratches and none were broken open. Other buyers have not been so fortunate.

Now, onto the good news - this coffee is brilliant. As soon as I got my shipment I went right to work using my B70's smallest setting. Naturally this provides the richest brew, and therefore is the most telling test of a coffee's quality. This Kona blend passes with flying colors - great aroma, a fantastically bold yet sweet taste with none of the bitter aftertaste that other bold roasts leave behind. Goes down wonderfully smooth. Just an all-around great coffee to have everyday. Some purists may question the value of a Kona "blend" (which probably has only 10% Kona coffee) but I think you should just ignore the name and buy it because it's delicious.

Bottom line - this is excellent coffee, no question. Just know that the fragile packaging is the price you pay for $0.35 K-cups.

Delicious! Smooth, not bitter. I do not detect any hazelnut taste as previous reviewer spoke about.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good - Don't Be Afraid of "Extra Bold", October 22, 2010

I was apprehensive about ordering this coffee because of the "extra bold" description. I love a nice bold coffee, but not necessarily super duper bold. This coffee is flavorful, bold, but not too much for me. It has a much better flavor than some of the sample coffees that came with my Keurig. If you're looking for a nice everyday coffee with a little kick (but not too much) this is a good one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Extra Bold. Pleasing flavor, needs more boldness, June 10, 2010

I enjoyed the flavor of this offering in the K-Cup varieties, but it lacked the promised 'extra boldness'. We've tried other blends that are labeled as 'bold' or 'mild', this one fits somewhere in between. If you want something to spank your hiney and get you going in the morning, look elsewhere. If it's a enjoyable cup of coffee you desire, this is a good candidate.

Definitely buy K-Cups in bulk like this pack of 50. You won't find deep discounts buying in bulk, but it's enough to ease the cost of single servings. The issue buying in bulk is if you don't like the blend, you are stuck with it for forty or fifty cups. This blend isn't sold in smaller quantities in stores near us, so we couldn't try it out before making the larger purchase. Where as other blends such as the Donut Shop and extra bold offerings get used up quickly by my wife and I (I'm the bold coffee drinker, she's looking for something more mild), this blend was slowly used in our Keurig.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Coffee; not a good value anymore; Quality problem on last batch, May 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Coffee People Kona Blend Island Style, K-Cups for Keurig Brewers (Pack of 50) (Grocery)
Coffee People Kona Blend has consistently been my go to K-Cup since I bought my brewer two years ago. At the time, it was barely $20 a box of 50. Now it is just shy of $30. Sorry, but a 50% price increase greatly diminishes the value of this coffee to me.

K-Cup coffee is already a premium of other types of brewed coffee at home. I do enjoy the Kona Blend and it is a great brew. But watching the price continue to climb has forced me to switch to other flavors.

One other note that buyers should be aware of. My last lot that I purchased has several K-cups that have had issues with the foil seal on top. Out of my batch of 50, almost half have issues with the seal failing during brew and the coffee spilling out and into your cup. The batch numbers on the side are: "BVBD 10/22/11, 13:55 PL49, 022 L5". The failures are all correlating with K-Cups were the foil top is "sucked" inwards with a vaccum. The other K-kups in the box are not "sucked" in and are functioning fine. I have considered returning the coffee to Amazon but will probably decline and instead provide feedback here.

I have sampled many Coffee People K-cups and the Kona Blend is the all-around tops for me. It is rich and smooth and low acid. I love it.
