Sorry Newman's Own Extra Bold blend but I have found a new favorite K-Cup!,

I have been a fan of Newman's Own Organic Extra Bold Fair Trade blend for quite a while now. It has become my "go-to" coffee when using my Keurig B70 coffee maker. However, I am always looking for something new and when Coffee People's Organic Extra Bold came out in Amazon's new frustration-free packaging I had to give it a try.
The first thing that I noticed after brewing a cup was the aroma. It smelled more like freshly ground and traditionally brewed coffee than any other K-cup that I have tried (and I have tried dozens) with a rich, heady aroma. The taste was full with medium-high acidity and a pleasing amount of "bite", as one would expect from a dark-roasted blend. A perfect cup for me when using the 7 1/4 oz. setting but I imagine that some will like the larger cup size as well. I think that this coffee is strong enough to deliver a rich cup even with 9 oz. of water. I also like the fact that it is a certified organic coffee. As for the packing, Diedrich (who makes coffee under the Coffee People, Gloria Jean and Diedrich name) has worked with Amazon to reduce the amount of packaging needed for their K-cups. All 50 of the pods are in one, heavy-duty box with no additional packaging. I just ripped the top off and stuck the entire thing on my shelf. A nifty way to help reduce waste and a convenient way for me to buy my new go-to coffee! Newman's Own Extra-bold Special Blend K-cups, 80 Pk for Keurig Brewers

Previously a 5 star fan of Newman's, I have to wave goodbye. This is the best bold and full flavored k-cup I have tried to date. Coffee People's Organic Extra Bold is officially my daily go to cup of coffee. Great price with the free shipping. Kind of miss the nice boxes to store in my pantry, but can deal with the new packaging. You have to try this k-cup!

This is one of the best coffees I've ever drank. The flavor is amazing. Semi dark roast, not dark enough to be obnoxious, But it's got a good kick. Definitely much darker than your average cup of coffee. A little darker, but much more body than starbucks sumatra.
As for the K cup itself. I bought the bulk package of 50. I've used about 10 of them so far. 8 of them have brewed a cup full of grounds. I'm not sure if it got roughed up in shipping or if the bulk packaging provides insufficient protection. or if the K cup itself is of poor construction. either way, i'm probably going to have to endure 30 or so more cups of coffee grinds. update: I believe the broken ones (cup-o-grinds) were caused by the bulk (50) packaging. they're too free to rattle around in the box and break the filters. i've since only ordered the 2x 24 boxes and haven't had a broken one since.

Manufacturer's Quality Control Issues Seem to be Resolved!,

I love this coffee's flavor and strength, but almost stopped purchasing it because of this particular brand's K-cup packaging defects. The top seals were not sealed and coffee grounds spewed out during the brewing. However, after a time. I ordered another box to determine whether/not the manufacturer had corrected the packaging defects (and because I really enjoyed this particular coffee). The box arrived, I examined each of the 50 K-cups, and every single one was properly sealed. I'm hoping that other "Coffee-People" customers are finding this to be true, also. I'm sticking with this coffee as long as the manufacturer sticks to his quality control practices!

I was skeptical as well, thinking that it would be hard to beat the Newman's Own extra bold for flavor. However, the other reviews were correct (IMO.) Delicious flavor, with a very smooth boldness that is hard to beat. Watch out Starbucks! I may never partake of your overpriced brew again!!!!

The Coffee people coffee is very good however something about this shipment of K-cups was very wrong they made a mess of the coffee maker and clogged the metal tube where the water and coffee filter through.
I thought it might be a fluke, but it has happened 8 or 9 tomes to different degrees, sometimes leaving the cup undrinkable and full of grounds. Only good if you like crunchy coffee. I will say I have enjoyed Coffee people as my favorite overall brand since buying the Keurig maker. Maybe just a bad batch!?! MF

I have been a long-time subscribe and save customer of this coffee. Lately it has been hit or miss as to the organic being available. It has been out of stock very often and there are a couple of places on the web that suggest that this variety has been discontinued by Coffee People. The organic is our favorite by far and we would sure hate to see it go away....especially since any replacement we might choose from Amazon would not get the subscribe and save discount since that has been discontinued for these coffees.

Strong and smooth,
This review is from: Coffee People Organic K-Cups for Keurig Brewers (Pack of 50) (Grocery)
NOTE: This is a review of this coffee in the K-cup format, not of Amazon's packaging. However, I have never had trouble with the Frustration-free packaging; I simply cannot comment at this time.
Reviewer's preferences: Strong, dark roast coffees, mid-to-heavily sweetened with whole milk (4:1 ratio or a little heavier toward the coffee side). I occasionally add a hint of vanilla syrup and cream or half-and-half if a coffee is overly bitter. I picked up this coffee in a large sampler box of Coffee People "Extra Bold" K-cups, which I have just finished off. The collection contained the following blends/coffees: Wake-up Call, Jet Fuel, Black Tiger, and Organic. I have had each coffee multiple times. From the four, I give the Organic blend the top spot with a slight edge over Black Tiger (we're talking 9.1/10 over 9.0/10 here). Both the Black Tiger and Organic were strong and bold in flavor but not too bitter, while the Wake-up Call tended to be a little more harsh on the palate. The Jet Fuel blend was appropriately named, as it almost always required a little vanilla and more milk or even heavy cream to make it palatable. Qualities of Coffee People Organic blend: Strong, medium-dark coffee flavor (think Columbian or Medium French Roast strength) with evidence of the fruit in the aroma and taste. Bitterness on the low end, comparable to many medium roast coffees. Mild-to-medium acidity (mellow), with no sourness of note and a slight natural sweetness. Substantial body, but not heavy or syrupy. Takes to sweeteners and milk/cream well without disappearing or losing nuances. Best described as a very good example of a strong "standard" coffee, with nothing standing out in the flavor (such as nuttiness, chocolate, caramel, florals).

If you like bold, this is a wonderful coffee. I like the opportunity to support sustainable organic whenever possible. It does not come in the neat little dispenser boxes that fit nicely on a shelf. Therefore, the large box can be cumbersome to deal with, but that is part of the "less packaging" environmental concern. Therefore, I will deal with it. I actually have recycled some of my old dispenser boxes from prior orders.
