Not the best Blur single..., July 21, 2000
This review is from: Coffee & TV Pt.1 / Trade Stylee / Metal Hip (Audio CD)
Coffee & TV is one rockin' song, but I really think that if you are new to buying import singles, go for Tender, because with Tender the B-sides are much better.
The title track, found on the album 13, is one of the best songs of the year 1999 and Graham Coxon's beautifully nervous voice only enhances the track.
The B-sides, Trade Stylee and Metal Hip Slop are remixes of Bugman, from the 13 album, and while bassist Alex James' Trade Stylee is a bouncing dance version, Graham's Metal Hip Slop mix is a bit lacking, which is why I only gave 4 stars. With Graham we should have seen some huge guitar breakdown of some sort and it never seems to come. Graham's remix is the weakest of the four band members remixes.
If you are a Blur fan this is a must have, but if you aren't big on remixes or are new to Blur, either buy the 13 album, or if you've got that, get the Tender single. You won't be disappointed either way.
