5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous book!
This book is HUGE, which it should be to show off the fantastic artwork. Loved it! All Vampire Hunter D fans should get it, just don't expect it to fit in your book shelf.. lol! Pay close attention to the dimensions in the item description. It also comes in a slip case to protect the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Art, But Repetitive
I love the Vampire Hunter movies, so when I found this book at a local anime shop, I snatched it up, threw my money at the shopkeep, and ran home as fast as I could, inflicting physical harm on all humans caught in my path. That's a lie. Still though, I was excited. After getting home and sitting down with the book and letting all the amazing art sink in, the book starts...

5.0 out of 5 stars To die for, February 13, 2007
This review is from: Coffin: The Art Of Vampire Hunter D (Hardcover)
The kind of book one wants to open and roll himself or herself all over the pages. Huge size, excellent paper, amazing printing quality, and I can go on practically forever. Much better than the Japanese edition which is small and most pictures are not even full size, but cropped. (Yes, I am crazy enough to own both editions!) Amano is a genius. His lines and forms are flowing, his colours mesmerizing. Invest in what will hold you spellbound for hours.

This book is just beautiful. The art, the design, everything about this screams to be touched and looked at fondly. This is how a book about art should be done. This is my Vampire Hunter D centerpiece, and sits proudly amidst figures, novels and the DVDs and other "D" collectibles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book., April 19, 2007
This review is from: Coffin: The Art Of Vampire Hunter D (Hardcover)
The art in this book is detailed, beautiful, and breathtaking... I was blown away by even the pictues which were only sketches.

I recommend it highly to fans of Vampire Hunter D... as well as anyone who is an art fanatic or art book collector... or even just someone who loves Vampiric things in general.

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Art, But Repetitive, May 8, 2011

I love the Vampire Hunter movies, so when I found this book at a local anime shop, I snatched it up, threw my money at the shopkeep, and ran home as fast as I could, inflicting physical harm on all humans caught in my path. That's a lie. Still though, I was excited. After getting home and sitting down with the book and letting all the amazing art sink in, the book starts to show flaw. I want to say 98% of the book is portraits of D. It is nice, as many of the portraits show some variance in color execution and costume, but at the end of the day, I really would have liked to see some other characters, environments, props, etc. All in all, a good book, but, falls a little short.

Wow this book is a fan's dream come true! HUGE high quality prints, amazing color reproduction and very detailed print job. This is T_H_E Yoshitaka Amano artbook to own (and i own about a dozen!).

In fact, the book is so well done that i actually want to buy a second one used or something to gut it and frame some of the prints - they are that amazing, find affordable & well reproduced Amano prints can be very hard.

A++

I bought this book for my boyfriend, who is a huge fan of the series. I cannot speak from my own experience with it, but from his near fainting reaction upon receiving it, I would say it is definitely worth the money. From what he has said, the artwork is incredible. I would recommend it for any fan of the series or the art.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most awesome book ever, May 11, 2011

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is the second artbook i purchased ever. The prints are gigantic and the book is pretty sturdy. the book does not have a solid back binder because the pages are so big. I bought the book originally to give me inspiration as i would like do some oil paintings of some of the images. I recommend this to anyone that is a D fan. I'm sure there are some pictures that spoiled my readings, as I'm only up to novel 4.

If you are a fan of Vampire Hunter D, if you appreciate good illustrations or have knack for art, if enjoy the gothic... then this book is for you. Being honest, I thin if you enjoy any of the things I just mentioned you will love this book. Amano is a wonderful artist and his execution tend to have a dark air, yo will realize if you check out other works of his.
It is beautiful: the artwork is amazing and it is given all the space it needs and the case if cool although not very resistant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Explendit, January 5, 2011
This review is from: Coffin: The Art Of Vampire Hunter D (Hardcover)
The book is just what i expected and a little bit more. I bought it beacuase i`m facinated by the Amano`s work and althougth i haven`t read any VHD book, Amano`s illustrative work is an inspiration me.

As fot the book itselft. It contains a incredible amount of stuning illustratrations. Ones colored and other in high contrast black and white. You can enjoy the pictures on a confortable big and full size since this book is fairly big (just as it should be). This book worth the 13 dollars i paid for it, and would defenetly had pay more. The side is just great. Highly recomended for the ones looking for a exelent book on Amano`s work.
