This review is from: Coffin Case BDFX-1 Blood Drive Overdrive Guitar Effect Pedal (Electronics)
I have been playing guitar and it's sibling stringed instruments for 20 years now, and I am always on the hunt for cool stuff for it. I found this pedal looking for a simple overdrive pedal. The cost is what sold me, even if it isn't really an overdrive pedal. What this is however is quite nice. This thing can go from simple boost, to goth, to classic rock (ac/dc tone), to classic fuzz tones with ease. I now use this pedal in unison with a TS-808, and the combo is tone heaven.
I would suggest this pedal for anyone who is looking for a pedal that is built tough, has great tone, true bypass... and wants something that will get people talking when they see it on your board.

I originally bought it to use with a 300 dollar Epiphone and didnt like it, but then I got a Warwick Vampyre LT and I love thing. It doesn't offer much of that scratchy overdive sound, especially on a bass, but its really warm on the Warwick's Jazz pickups. I didn't compare it to the Bloody Mary, but I settled on a Boss ODB-3 Bass overdrive for the Epiphone and I dont think I'll separate those two again, and the Blood Drive is going everywhere the Warwick does.
As far the control names, well...the minute I saw "Filth", I was sold. To each his own, I guess, cuz the other guy didn't like the names. I was disappointed until I put it on a better guitar. Better playing would go even further... Definitely not an extreme metal pedal, but give off a good Black Sabbathy type feel to it.

This pedal has a very smooth, warm, full-bodied sound. Think a slightly more aggressive tubescreamer. The other reviews are correct - it's not capable of recreating "Metal Zone" type sounds. Thus, don't be fooled by the death metal looks - it's more of a classic rock sound. Full analog sound - warm, not harsh.
The names of the knobs take some getting used to. I realize they were going for a theme here, but I would have appreciated "Volume, Drive, and Tone." But that's picky stuff. You get a pedal for the sound, and if you're looking for a overdrivew with a warm yet ballsy sound, this might be your pedal. To top it all off, they're going for $50 and less nowadays, so the value is definitely there. Enjoy.
