4.0 out of 5 stars Alaska Adventure to the MAX, August 16, 2000

In this third book in the Taylor Morgan series, the plot really heats up. These tales of high flying in the Alaska Bush are Megan Rust's forte, and she paints a series of twists and turns into numerous harrowing medivac flights. And all of that wrapped into a tricky, and suspenseful murder mystery. Having actually flown all over Alaska for 25 years myself, I can vouch for the authentic feel to the entire story. It really had me sweating in the pilots seat! A Great Book!

1.0 out of 5 stars Hopeless!, September 7, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Coffin Corner (Alaskan Mystery) (Paperback)
Being interested in Alaska and being a pilot myself, I have given Ms. Rust every benefit of the doubt, and struggled through her previous two books to the bitter end; on this one I finally gave up about a third into the book. The setting is nicely done, and Ms. Rust's expertise in aviation shows, but unfortunately, she just can't write well. Her heroine comes across as a complete twit, and the reader feels trapped in a bad Scoobie-Doo episode without any of the humor: "Gee, what a dandy mystery! Let's go find some clues!"
Thankfully, Dana Stabenow in her Liam Campbell mysteries came up with a female pilot with some character.

1.0 out of 5 stars Coffin Corner, August 1, 2000

I really like this author, I've read her previous works, but this book is pretty lame. I can't even bring myself to finish the last 40 pages. I really want to give her the benefit of the doubt because I liked her other books so well, but this one is confusing and very juvenile in it's structure. It does not flow well at all because nothing seems to tie the story (if there is one), together. It seems as though 20 different people had a hand in writing a few pages each. I will certainly be interested if she writes another one, because she deserves another shot, but this one is not worth the effort. Better luck next time.
