NOT resistant to rain,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Coghlan's Time/Temp Digital Dangler (Sports)
I was close to giving this 4 stars, but it's probably more like a 3 1/2.
Temperature appears to be accurate, and unit appears to be of good quality, but here are some things I don't like about it: 1) There are 3 lines of info - day\date, time, temperature. On mine, the top row (day\date) is not completely visible unless I tilt the unit forward. The digits are partially hidden at the top. 2) The temperature digits are too small. Would have been nice to see the time (largest digits) and temperature reversed, or, just have larger digits for the temperature. 3) There really ought to be a back-light on this thing. 4) The "alarm" seems like it would be completely useless, as it's way too quiet. Having said this, I do like the unit, but only because there is nothing else like it in this price range. On a positive note, I really like the max. \ min. temperature memory. We'll see how it holds up to some camping. Note added on 7-31-11: After just ONE camping trip, this thing died. It could not handle even just ONE rainfall, even though it was partially protected by our tent fly. Seems odd that it has a rubber O-ring to seal the battery compartment and yet the display was ruined with just ONE rainfall. I cannot recommend this unit to anyone wanting to use if for OUTDOOR activity. VERY disappointed!

This was the perfect gift for our son, who is a time/weather aficionado. It has time, date and weather data in an easy to read display. The case is rugged, but you have to be gentlem when pressing with a pen point, etc to set the controls.

Beats a Zipper Pull Thermometer,
By 21st Century Hermit (Colorado) - See all my reviews Cons: No back-light, the Alarm is almost inaudible, the manual was in French, no PDF manual on Coghlan's website. Extreme price range on the Dangler: $8-20, I was looking for another Zipper Pull Thermometer when I stumbled on this at twice the price . . . no brainer. ZPT are almost unreadable with their tiny alcohol bulb displays, this is very readable. Every eToy (GPS, camera, cell) I own has a clock so it didn't matter, with or w/o. I got this for backpacking, got it hanging from a shoulder strap. At night I'll detached it and hang it in the tent and I won't have to guess the temp, wish it had a back-light. To early to tell if the battery will last, but at least it's a very common size.
