Great book- lots of good examples and worksheets to use. Text is easy-to-read and information included is relevant. Could have been improved by including more worksheets on specific problems, e.g. anger management (expanding coverage) and by having larger-sized A4 worksheets, not small versions in table form as there is limited space to write (better resources).

Just reviewing this book had me interested. Once I got into the first section, I realized that this book would be a great reference. The exercises really make you think. You know you'd be fooling yourself if you would just put anythin down. Analysing those many parts of your behavior is such a challenge!! Take them to your therapist and together you can tackle your issues. This book is great for getting those thoughts and behaviors up front.
This isn't for dummies. Admitting you need help and taking action is not a dumb idea. Their explaination does make things easier to understand. No technical talk (that would make anybody confused).
Read this book. Get those issues out and on paper. Take them to your therapist. It's been working well for me.

This job does a great job of explaining what exactly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is. It states it in very simple words and continues to do so throughout the book. Many homework sheets that would better if they gave you more room to write, but you can always do that on a separate sheet of paper.

I appreciate the "put the cookies on the low shelf" approach of the Dummies guides, and this is no exception. I was trained in a much more Rogerian philosophy and over several years of practice, i have been drawn to the CBT methods more and more. This book is helpful in that transition.

This book has aided me in assisting my 9 year old son with his OCD problem. I had to think about how to gear the steps and list to a child, but it helped me isolate his compulsions and teach him to rethink positively. I would like to find a self-help book for children though. This book has also assisted me in realizing that I suffer from an anxiety problem myself. It's funny, my husband knew I had a problem but I didn't until I read this book. This book is a wonderful first step in realizing that one has a anxiety problem and it helps keep the emotional and physcial after effects under control. I recommend this book to any person and/or parent.

I've purchased Dummies books for years and appreciated their simplicity and clarity. I never expected a psychology book to be so well done as this book, in a Dummies series. This book is clear, precise, and easy to understand & use.It is helpful for professionals and neophytes. I am both, having a degree in psych but never having used Cognitive Therapy. I highly recommend this book and its companion theory book.

I have experienced anxiety post a concussion and have been treated with meds, PT, acupuncture, MD, psych and NONE of them helped as much as this book , even in the first week. i have nearly stopped med, doing reading and exercises which are very well laid out. I recommend this to anyone suffering anxiety . It is hard at first, but so worth the effort ! I feel completely different in attitiude than just 2 weeks ago. i work in health care and have told everyone how great this book is.
