The film is shot well, in natural low light.

The acting was really good and it did not appear to be a low budget movie at all.

What a stupid movie.... too bad we wasted our money and time on this movie!

I decided to watch this because I've been a Nicholas Brendon fan since his days as Xander on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Writer and Director James Ward Byrkit weaves the most insanely complex and crazy story structure I've had the pleasure of watching since Irreversible, Mulholland Dr. and Memento. Eight "friends" get together to catch up over dinner, meanwhile Miller's comet is passing close to Earth. This film is Science Fiction, and by saying that I'm already giving away a lot. Though the title of the film also gives that fact away, as does a conversation the cast has early on about the thought experiment Schrodinger's Cat. This film will require multiple viewings for most everyone who wants to unravel all the insane details.

I loved all the overlapping dialogue, which is intentional as most of the film was improvised. The actors had no idea what to expect, much in the vein of The Blair Witch Project. The film is shot well, in natural low light. Though I'm sure people will complain about the shaky camera, I didn't find it distracting at all. It's not nearly as shaky as the camera work in Cloverfield (which didn't bother me). People also may complain about the editing. For much of the first act each scene ends by cutting to black, which I found to be an effective tool after viewing the whole film. For a film that primarily takes place in the dining and living room of a house, I never felt it to be claustrophobic or stagnant. The story is great, the actors sell it, the premise had me viewing most of the third act with my mouth open. It's been a long time since I've been so pleasantly surprised by a film. I'm sure this film will end up becoming a cult classic, which is the best compliment I think a film can get. I look forward to seeing what James Ward Byrkit makes next. Coherence comes FULLY APPROVED.

It's always refreshing to see a filmmaker with a low budget and an intriguing concept make a smart and tightly-paced film more compelling than most of today's bloated $100 million movies.

The story starts out fairly low-key at a dinner party which occurs on the same night a comet is passing near Earth. There is already some tension among the guests due to past relationships and their different personalities, but then the evening quickly spirals into a mysterious and dizzying puzzle with huge implications for the characters involved. Great for people who like films that challenge the audience.

Great story for those who have at least some understanding of the laws of quantum mechanics and superposition. A thought provoking "what if" scenario if those laws were suddenly governing the world of classical physics on the macro scale. I also enjoyed how they took the ramifications to a much grander scale, unlike most alternate reality sci-fi stories which dumb it down to the simplest possibility of just two variations (good vs. bad). If you don't understand the basics of superposition I can see how the film would leave one scratching their head since rules of the quantum world seem to contradict every instinct of our everyday lives. A wonderful film for students of physics to ponder on.

A smart little indie sci-fi film, with a theme inspired by a famous Twilight Zone episode, and a puzzle-piece version of reality as clever as Memento's. Won't offer any spoilers -- you should come to it fresh and enjoy trying to piece it together along with the characters. The hand-held shaky-cam approach works for this one, and the young cast does well. The puzzle pieces get pretty confused and confusing at one point, but then nicely fall into place at the end. Very good.

This is a keeper! Wow! Check out IMDb before watching to catch a some clues. Pay attention to everything! Afterwards, check in Yahoo for a Q and A with the writer/director. I think I googled something like "what Coherence was really about" and that got me to the yahoo interview. After reading that, watch it a million more times to see if you can catch it all. I have watched it at least 10 times and find something new each time! Don't listen to the pompous reviewers that insist you need a degree in quantum physics to "get it". A thinking person's flick for sure but quite a ride to be sure!

Coherence feels like a modern episode of The Twilight Zone. Uniquely emerging reveals with quantum twists and turns. The Cat, as it turns out, is...

The movie is so good, but I'm disappointed with the print quality. It says its HD, but it doesn't look like it

Brilliant film. If you liked Primer or Upstream Color, you are going to love Coherence. A complex science fiction - horror film with little to no special effects and top notch improvisational acting, Coherence manages to maintain suspense while presenting it's intricate, plot and character driven story line which resolves beautifully down to one superb moment. I'd rather see this than 99.9% of the films Hollywood or most "indie" studios are churning out.
