This is a warning to those that are considering purchasing CoinManage. While the software itself is excellent software, support and coin price updates are now non-existent. The company's message boards have been taken down, advising that they are checking "functionality." I can only assume that the message boards were removed due to the numerous complaints and unanswered questions that appeared on them. Check the company's (Liberty Street Software) Better Business Bureau rating, and you will see that it is an "F" on a scale from A to F.

I have used CoinManage for approx. 8 years, and have most of my numismatic collection entered into the software. In the past, while coin price updates were not as timely as they should have been, there were two, three, or more updates per year. Now, however, due to the total lack of updates (the last price update was in December of 2009), I am forced to consider other software, such as Pro-Coin, which means several weeks of re-entering coins into the new software. If you can live without coin price updates, bullion value updates, and a total lack of support, then this software will probably work well for you - it is good software with a ton of things it can do. If you require timely coin price updates, etc., which is a major need for most numismatic collectors, stay away from this software.

Richards comment says it all. I've also been a Coin Manage user for many years. It was a pretty good application with a couple updates a year. Then all of a sudden no updates, no 2010 version, no answers to questions. Then they came out with the 2011 version. I purchased it thinking that my coin values would be updated, nope, I was wrong. Some coins were added, but the values are the same as the 2009 version. Still no answer to questions, some coins you can't assign any values to them, you have to go elsewhere find the value and enter it in manually. It's a good software if you are not planning on having your coin values updated, but I'm also going to look elsewhere. It was a waste of my $$$ to update to the 2011 version. In my opinion, the company has gone downhill and support is non-existent, a waste of time.
If anyone has any suggestions for a replacement, I'd very much like to hear some opinions.

I was very disappointed in this product. I can't believe customers would rate it 5 stars. It looks and acts like it was written by a my neighbor down the street who is studying to be a programmer. And, he is 19 years old!

One problem is that the categories cannot be changed or new categories added. I have krugerrands and Austrian ducats which I would like to track along with my coin collection. I realize these have little to no numismatic value but the only way to track them along with my collection is to list them in a misc. category which cannot be renamed to reflect the type of coin.

The photos of many coins are inaccurate and in many cases missing. The list of international coins is very scarce. It is not easy to use and understand - you have to really get into this program and almost "live it" to understand it. Finally, the help is no help. It directed me to a web site that no longer exists.

I would not recommend this program.

Overall pleased with the Coin Manage 2007 software, was easy to maneuver through including the different drop down tabs, even if you don't read the documentation provided. The only drawn back is the illustrations for the coin types - used one coin for every year whether 1900 or 1999 coin. The coin reports are numerous and provide a wide diversity on how to layout your collect.

No price updates since 2009, purchased the new 2011 thinking I would see something new and improved and NOTHING. NO customer service, NO reply to emails seeking help with numerous errors I have discovered in this software. WARNING DO NOT BUY. If you do I PROMISE YOU WILL BE SORRY. I wasted over a hundred hours trying to get this debugged, and it still is not acurrate.

Well I must say, I ordered this software as a Christmas gift for my man who is an avid coin collector and seller. I found this software and thought it would be PERFECT for him. I received the order within days so the delivery was very timely, but I gotta say I'm terrified now based on these reviews that he's going to hate it! I am shocked by the statement a gentleman made about the photos they provide of coins (or lack thereof I should say) and the complete lack of tech support!! I hope he find's the software useful...if not I'll have to spent $100 on the really good software (carlisledevelopment.com) and don't really wanna do that if it's not absolutely necessary. I'll write a more comprehensive review once he has had an opportunity to use it after Christmas!!

Coin Manage 2008 is really a complete software package, that allows not only us and canadian coins but many foriegn coins as well. You can even upload pics of your coins and link your coins to book values. Great product

The Great Mind Store resolved within 24 hours a problem I had with
a malfunctioning Coin Manage 2005 CD. The program is an excellant resource for both the amatuer and serious coin collector and will provide a detailed and accurate account of one's coin collection.
I highly recommend this product and The Great Mind Store as the agent for Amazon in providing superior customer service.

Just bought CoinManage 2011; not as bad as many other reviews claim. Yes, some of the images are incorrect, and the values for some coins aren't always correct or entirely up to date. That said, it is CONSIDERABLY better than most other programs that are currently available! It is a reasonable program for the price; you have to realize that they aren't selling millions of copies of the software, so they can't hire a team of programmers to make it as slick and bug free as we all might like. Pretty easy to correct the problems by entering your own values and images. Overall, pretty good software for creating an inventory of your collection.

Not a perfect program but its the best I've found. Have been using it for years through numerous upgrades. Have gotten so upset with it have switched to other coin collecting programs only to be even more disappointed. Other than the lagging value updates recently most of the complaints I read about functionality are because the users haven't discovered the way to use it. The program is better than the documentation (help features) and company support...you just have to figure it out.
