More About the Author

Born in Philadelphia, Rob started writing fiction at age eight. These were short stories written for the approvalof his highly supportive parents. His family moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, when he was an adolescent, where he wrote mainly what he needed for school assignments, always submitting science fiction short stories when permitted.

After high school, his writing interests changed. While attending Drexel University, he composed a series of novellas, most of them love stories set against the backdrop of World War II.

After college, besides pursuing an engineering career in the Gulf Coast region, he wrote more stories, a teeth-cutting first novel, and a little poetry. By now, his interest focused on what romantic love can achieve in people's lives. To pursue this theme, he studied the work of many authors and filmmakers. In 2005, he read a well crafted love story by a best selling author whose ending was a reversal so suddenly despairing that he felt outrage on behalf of the novel's readers. Within twenty-four hours, he was writing Coinage of Commitment, a novel whose first draft was produced in a four month blaze of sleepless effort. Months of editing followed until finally, for all those readers wondering what level love can soar to, the finished work was proudly published by Saga Books.

In May of 2008, Coinage of Commitment was awarded finalist honors in the prestigious National Indie Excellence Book Awards in the Romance category.

Rob's second novel, Pocket Piece Cameo, was published in November, 2008.

After this, Rob went on to non-fiction pursuits, as well as a career as a reviewer and a contest judge. Earlier this year, he decided to rewrite Coinage of Commitment to see if he could boost its reader appeal beyond what the Indie Excellence judges saw in 2007. The results were so encouraging that he decided to rewrite both books. The second edition stories were published as ebooks in January of this year afer seven months of full-time work.

Rob is now working on this third title.

Rob and his wife live near Houston, Texas.

A fabulous love story that is also an interesting study of cause and effect. The choices that we make in life can have far reaching consequences. Very thought provoking and much "deeper" than most love stories. I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend Coinage of Commitment.

I took away a star because I wanted more! I'll give it back when the author publishes again. :) There are two years of our couple's college years missing and I smell another whole book there. I also wondered about the married years. I realize that the publishers usually limit the author to a certain size book or number of words and things were probably cut to suit the "generic reader tastes." So I make my plea here for more books from this author. I'm holding your other star hostage...

Coinage of Commitment by R Costelloe tells a love story like few others. With the strength of language, the author takes the reader through the entire gambit of emotions.

Well worth the read.

Wayne and Nancy come from very different socio-economic backgrounds. Nancy was raised by privileged and wealthy parents. She never had to experience feelings of want. Wayne was raised by depression-era parents. He has had to work hard to obtain his goals. They meet while attending college in the 1960s. Wayne is attending college near Nancy's Ivy League university. When they first meet, they are instantly attracted to each other. Although they hail from very different backgrounds, they realize that they do share something in common: their hopes and dreams about love. Both Nancy and Wayne share a common goal of being in a loving relationship that extends beyond what is typical in most relationships. They each developed these ideas long before they met.

It is their desire to have a happy, loving relationship that allows them to work through their class and religious differences. As with most relationships, they have a lot to work through in the beginning. When fate throws them a curveball, their lives are forever changed. Friends and family members have to help them both deal with drastic changes that occur for both of them. Their future is not what they expected it to be.

"Coinage of Commitment" is a beautiful romantic tale that also provides the reader with lots of food for thought. Wayne and Nancy both have created some beautiful idealistic views of what love should be. When I read about their thoughts on love, mentally I also reviewed my own. Through this book, Costelloe teaches us that it is important and worthwhile to wait for that special loving relationship that will have the most meaning for us. It is also worth taking a chance for true love.

If you're looking for something more in a love story, you've come to the right place! An entertaining read, yes, but so much more. The author has exquisite language skills that seem to lead you through the characters' souls to an understanding of romantic love well beyond the usual. If you've experienced a great love in your life, or strive to, you will find yourself continuing to ponder this love story long after you've turned the last page.
