If you are looking for a shaving mug, this is one to consider. The best part about it is the wide opening. It makes it a whole lot easier to whip up your lather than a mug with a smaller opening. It also looks pretty nice on the counter along with my safety razor, straight razor, & brush.

It works wonderfully as a shaving mug. It has a nice little handle and enough room for the soap. I could do without the 'Col. Conk' nonesense, though.

Don't waste your money on this shave mug. In fact, don't waste your money on purchasing ANY *official* shave mug. They are all overpriced. Unless you are a huge fan of Col. Conk my recommendation is for you to save your money, go to the dollar store and purchase a ceramic or glass mug to use instead.PROS: 1. Proudly display Col. Conk Shave Mug to all my visitors, friends and family (???). CONS: 1. Flimsy-feeling ceramic mug. The ceramic is not very dense. This is not a heavy mug. 2. Overpriced. 3. Bland look. IN SUMMARY: I am returning my mug. I for some reason thought this would change the way I shave. I used to keep my shave soap in a plastic cup/container. Now I use a nice glass mug that I purchased at the dollar store for yes guessed it... $1. Not the $25 that this mug cost. Don't waste your money and time. If you need a mug to shave, make that trip to the dollar store and get on with life.

I agree with one reviewer that this mug is very flimsy. Looking at this mug and its accompanying description you'd think it was of sturdy design. Not so. I got the mug as part of a Col Conk shave set I purchased several years ago. I was very disappointed at how thin and light the mug was. I managed to hang on to it as long as I did by treating it gently. A few weeks ago I was attempting to load a new bar of Col Conk shave soap into the mug. The soap was a tight fit and pushing it into place caused the mug to split in two. I WILL NOT be buying a replacement, nor will I purchase any other Conk products. In my opinion selling a cheaply made, overpriced mug like this taints the entire product line. What other short cuts has the company made that I'm not aware of? Save your money.. I'm now using a standard coffee mug which works just as well as this mug did.

I think just about everything everyone has said is true. This definitely isn't a big heavy duty ceramic mug. If you aren't a big Col. Conk fan, the logo is a little funky (I just put mine backwards on the shelf).But... if you are just starting and want to try some Col. Conk soap, and want something that looks kind of fun, it is great. I got it because I wanted an apothecary mug, and hey! Free soap. There are better soaps, you can just grab a bowl from your kitchen or get a little dish at the dollar store, but if you are into straight razor shaving, you are probably wanting something a little more. If you wanted cheap and easy you'd probably be shaving with a disposable. ;-) Definitely not for everyone, and don't expect too much. Do you need this? Absolutely not. But a nice little package and having an apothecary mug, brush and straight razor on display is fun for me. And I don't feel so bad practicing with a cheap soap, getting a lather, dumping it out trying it again.... you don't want to learn with a $50 tub of cream!

The Col. Conk shaving mug arrived in a timely fashion (in time to make an appearance onstage in a production of "Woyzeck") and as described. I'm very pleased with it and would do business with this seller again.
