A Knowledgeable, Fast-Paced Ride,

This review is from: Cold Cache: A Western Story (Five Star Western Series) (Five Star Western Series) (Five Star First Edition Western) (Hardcover)
At a recent book signing, I met Tim Champlin. He is a humble yet knowledgeable man, and his list of titles was impressive. He told me he enjoyed exploring the what-ifs and the unexplored corners of history. Right up my alley. I couldn't resist finding out what his books had to offer.
For those who pine the days of Louis L'Amour and Zane Grey, "Cold Cache" is a wonderful discovery. Kent Rasmussen is a man retiring from Canadian duty as a Mountie. Nellie Newburn is a woman on an errand for her secretive, rich grandfather who heads up a family feud involving secret societies and Confederate gold. When Nellie hires Kent as a bodyguard, he has no idea of the trouble he is getting himself into. Kidnappings, beatings, and cross-country chases occur. Not everyone is who they appear to be, and the ending to this western adventure tale is fast-paced and dynamic. Champlin does a wonderful job of making us feel that we are there, in the 1800s, providing details that enrich the story, the characters, and the plot. If "Cold Cache" is any indication, I have a list of new books to discover, written by one local author named Tim Champlin. |
