Has to be a Movie soon...,
By Jacob Conrad (Pacific Northwest) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Cold Edge (Jake Adams International Thriller Series #6) (Hardcover)
I've read every book in this series and this is the best one yet. The author takes the reader to, of all places, the Arctic region off Norway's coast, and back through Sweden and Norway. This is the most exciting international thriller I've read in years. A real page turner. I would rate this book with the best by Jack Higgins or the late Robert Ludlum. I'm really surprised this author has not jumped to one of the major New York publishing houses. An author to watch and read.

A riveting thriller all the way through,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Cold Edge (Jake Adams International Thriller Series #6) (Hardcover)
Travel through the frozen wastes of the world to retrieve the remains of a murdered agent - not an easy task to begin with. "The Cold Edge" follows Jake and Anna, two Interpol officers as they try to accomplish this mission through the harsh and brutal environment. That wasn't enough, as Cold War tensions still remain in the world as and old nemeses take the opportunity to come after them. A riveting thriller all the way through, "The Cold Edge" is a top pick for community library thriller collections.

HOOKED!,
This review is from: The Cold Edge (A Jake Adams International Espionage Thriller) (Kindle Edition)
Hooked is what you will be when you start reading the Jake Adams series. Hooked for life is what you will be after reading this one (The Cold Edge), by far the best yet. Hooked so bad I now check the store daily just waiting to buy the next book! I read the whole series in order (back to back!) and its awesome how Trevors' writing ability continues to grow by leaps and bounds. I have no doubt Trevor Smith will easily follow the same path of indie top guy John Locke. So while waiting for the next Jake book, I will be reading his other works with the anticipation they will also be just as great.

A Welcome Change,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Cold Edge (Paperback)
A throwback to the old days when authors like Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett could deliver an action packed adventure in 300 pages or less. Sometimes I cringe when I open a novel and the first thing I see is a list of a cast of characters followed by a map. Those kind of novels require a commitment that I'm not always in the mood to make. Sometimes I'd rather watch "The A Team" or "MacGyver" than "Bridge Over the River Kwai". Scott plows straight ahead with the plot, not wasting any words on meaningless subplots or delving into the history of the characters more than necessary. This is pure entertainment from beginning to end. It's not going to change your life or change your view of the world. It's simple, shallow entertainment.

Dreadful,
This review is from: The Cold Edge (Jake Adams International Thriller Series #6) (Hardcover)
This book was so poorly written that it is amazing it ever got published. The characters are indistinguishable from each other and the action non-existent.
The frequent sex scenes are cringe-inducing and the slew of women, all drop-dead gorgeous and, of course, and all dying to sleep with our hero. I didn't have the heart to even bring it to the thrift store, it had to go right into the recycling bin. |
