As are the reviews, as are the critics of the show, you either love Kevin O'Leary or you don't.

I personally don't really feel the same way he does about money, work and treating people. But I'm still probably going to read his book once a year. This will be like "the dark side" of my library, it pushes the limits of loving money. It puts your mind into Kevin O'Leary'shoes, and it ain't rainbows and flowers. Which is good. You need to read this as well as books about treating your employees as friends and caring more about ethic than money.

As for the content itself, the business advices, well let's just say it's violent. Brutal. Cold. But it's how he made his money, so that's what he talks about.

A great read all in all, one I will offer to any wanna-be entrepreneur.

Kevin's tone and style isn't for everyone. If you value honesty, however, Kevin O'Leary's book On Business, Money, and Life may interest you. Growing wealth requires a deliberate plan and superhuman resolve; most people lack one or both. For most who make up the average and ordinary, they have so many self-limiting and self-defeating beliefs about money, business, themselves, and other people, that they should stick to voting for politicians to steal money from other people on their behalf. If you're ready to point the finger at yourself and take responsibility for your destiny then you'll enjoy O'Leary's book. There are MUCH better books on growing wealth, having a winning mindset, and developing a success/positive attitude, but O'Leary's is a nice, entry-level edition to the genre.

oh MAN this is what a Biography should be!
Kevin lays out his life for you from start to end...but he's lived an interesting life and he has a fun (yet not silly) way of telling the story.

He's been very successful, and he tell you how he did it.
You might not like him...and you might not like his methodology.
But everything he did was upfront and honest.
And his determination made him very, very successful and wealthy.

Sure, he doesn't sugarcoat it, but that's the O'Leary charm.
Obviously his methods work, so he's ALLOWED to be blunt.

If you want to read about a guy who started out at the bottom and clawed his way to the top....more than once!...this is a GREAT biography!

Very enjoyable read with good insights into the world of 'Mr. Wonderful'. Kevin O'Leary explains where he comes from and why he does things his way. Even though I don't agree with many of his views, I found the book to give me food for thoughts, which I might now have had. One of the best biographical books from a successful business person I have read in a long time.

Kevin reminds me of my drill sergeant in basic. You can do all kinds of preparation to look the part, unless you have the capability of accomplishing task; you are just another private headed back home. Kevin has a way of saying things the way they should be said. 4 stars cause the price of the book is steep for a hardcover.

"In these pages, I'm sharing with you life-changing moments and powerful lessons that have shaped my business philosophy. Along the way, I'll provide succinct summaries of those lessons and some questions designed to get you thinking about your own financial goals and dreams.

Not everyone wants to be an entrepreneur, or to start and grow a business. But one things for certain: everyone wants to be financially successful and to make more money.

I'll share my simple, clear-cut philosophy for investing, growing wealth, and becoming financially secure, I'll tell you exactly how I built my fortune."

The above comes from this surprisingly good book by Kevin "Mr. Wonderful" O'Leary. O'Leary is a Canadian businessman, investor, writer, and TV personality. He is, perhaps, best known as one of the venture capitalists on the Canadian TV show "Dragon's Den" and its American counterpart "Shark Tank."

(Above, I said O'Leary is generally a businessman. Specifically, he's "a born marketer and avid salesman." I wonder if O'Leary has read Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice," written circa 1595, with its central character "Shylock.")

Oh, I forgot one small thing: O'Leary's estimated net worth is $300 million. He also is chairman of a mutual and investment fund management firm that handles over $1.5 billion (known as {surprise, surprise} "O'Leary Funds").

This book is written in an autobiographical format. Along the way, O'Leary shares his secrets, experiences, insights, and lessons on entrepreneurship, business, money, and life as well as advice for budding entrepreneurs.

I first saw O'Leary on Canadian TV's "Dragon's Den.

I am not a literary reviewer and I don't really know why the book was not compelling for me. It was good, but not compelling. I had really expected a 'can't put it down, got to finish this book it is sooooo good' experience.

Maybe I am spoiled having read many of the Earl Nightingale, Napolean Hill and W. Clement Stone classics over the years.

No knocks on Kevin O'Leary. There are moments of classic wisdom sprinkled throughout the book. The book is a fabulous investment of the cost of the book.

I was just hoping for something that had more flow and a sense of urgency to the message.

Here's also hoping Kevin's next books are made available in the United States. Funny he did book signings at Costco's in Canada, but Costco in the United States did not even carry his book. I had to buy it through Amazon because it was not available in US stores.

I look forward to Kevin's next book. The wisdom in the message is there.

Thank-you,
Brad Thomsen
