Cold One Sewn in Gels vs. Other Gel Pack Designs
? Other Gel Packs
Competitor brands will use a gel insert. Good because only the insert needs to be frozen, but bad because the insert does not ice as precisely as sewn in gels. Plus, the insert is generally placed in a nylon pouch...NO COMPRESSION on the part that needs compression most.
? Cold One's Ice Gels
Our wraps use sewn in gels - the frozen gels are where you need them, plus the gels and the other two layers of the wrap all stretch together to ensure COMPRESSION. When you apply the Cold One wrap to your knee, the gel stays in place - directly over your injured area!
We Offer the Easiest and Best Solution to Cold Compression Therapy!
To use our Cold Compression Knee Wrap, simply place the wrap in the freezer for about an hour. You can even leave it in there when you're not using it! When you're ready to use your wrap, just remove it from the freezer and put it on for 15-20 minutes at a time, then back to the freezer until you are ready to use it again.
100% satisfaction guaranteed.

High-quality manufacture, but uses wrong freezing material,
By Hungry ForKnowledge (Ottawa, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cold One Knee Wrap (Health and Beauty)
I am impressed with the quality of how these things are made, BUT I don't understand why they used water to fill out the compartments on the inside of the wrap.
The problem with water is that it freezes solid and becomes hard as rock, and this is not something you want to be putting on your knee, especially if you are suffering from Patello-Femoral Syndrome like me. The wrap does have a "hole" where the knee cap is supposed to go, but it's not big enough. So what I am saying is that, if they just used ice gel - the kind which is still soft even when frozen, this would have been a fantastic product and I would have given it five stars. The other point about this: if these wraps were filled with gel, one would be able to get up and walk around with the wraps on. But as it is, it is too painful to walk with them if you tie them tight (which you are supposed to, according to the manufacturer's instructions). But without the soft gell, frankly this product was useless to me - until I discovered that I can't return it, and then had to improvise. So I bought a pair of soft ice gel packs, and I insert them between the knee wrap and my knee after tying the knee wraps loosely around my knees. It's not perfect, but it does the job. On the topic of not being able to return the Knee Ice Wraps, I made the mistake of buying them from "IceWraps". If I had bought them from the manufacturer, ColdOne, they have a 30-day money-back guarantee, and I would have been able to return them. Live and learn. Or learn from other people's mistakes, in this case mine.

Great Product!,

The Cold One Knee Wrap works great for me. The review discussing the gel hardness would apply probably to those who have a surface injury which would be sensitive to the compression.
I am told by the company that the liquid in the gels is a water solution with an FDA approved additive to allow freezing at a lower temperature. In some freezers it freezes quite hard and if the gels were tipped prior to freezing can create an edge which may be uncomfortable for some users. They advise letting it thaw slightly so it is slushy instead of hard if that is a concern. I love the wrap and would strongly advise others to try it. It is unconditionally satisfaction guaranteed for 30 days from purchase with no restocking fee if returned.

Hard Knocks for Knees,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cold One Knee Wrap (Health and Beauty)
The Cold One Knee Wrap itself is well constructed and straps onto the knee pretty well; however, the small "gel" compartments (which freeze in the icebox) behave more like frozen water than like a gel. As a result, the whole thing sits on the knee rather awkwardly because those compartments are like a bunch of ice cubes strapped to your knee. Not very effective, or comfortable!
What I do to help is slip a flexible Polar Pack (6" X 10") under the wrap (and a thin towel to reduce the cold on the skin). The Polar Pack (which costs only a few dollars) also freezes in the fridge, but, unlike the Cold One, it remains flexible and pliable. Thus it conforms nicely to the knee for a very comfortable fit. I don't know why Cold One doesn't use a gel similar to Polar Pack's. I've been using the Polar Packs for about 15 years now and they work supremely well (and they last). The Cold One wrap allows me to strap the Polar Pack onto the knee, and even to walk around as needed without it falling off.
