Our Kukri Machetes are those workhorses. They are available in two sizes, one has a thirteen inch blade and the other, our new “Magnum” model has a whopping seventeen inch blade. Amazon Verified Purchase
Bought a different kukri in 440 stainless and the blade was too soft to tolerate any chopping so thought I'd try Cold Steel.
Wow, what a difference! They're lighter than I thought and perfect size on the hip. Great balance and perfect to maximize the Kukri chopping advantage. Right out of the box I was impressed and with the factory blade was able to almost cut the box in half with a lazy diagonal swipe.
20 minutes with a cheap sharpener, (the fixed angle ceramic type that come with a keychain...) and the blade is scary sharp. Not perfect, but better than anything except my Ka-Bar. For this price I want a half a dozen of these lying around. (I don't know why) and judging by the steel and quality for my dollar won't hesitate to buy more expensive models from Cold Steel.
I also bought a Riflemans Hawk tomahawk from Cold Steel for a friend of mine and am similarly impressed.
I can shave with that and it's another piece of functional, work ready gear.

worth the price! holds an edge nicely. good weight. heavy enough to smash through stuff, but not to heavy to lug around on you hip all day. sheath is a little awkward at first, but is very secure. handle is not the most comfortable if you don't wear gloves. use a steel bruch to rub off the plastic burrs on the handle. overall, a great affordable compact machete.

We have owned the Cold Steel Kukri Machete for several years now and it's one of the most used large blades we own. In spring hiking it is common to come across downed trees blocking trails. This Kukri makes short work of the branchs sticking out so we can get over/around the down trees with minimal effort. The curved blade really improves the cutting ability and the Kukri isn't too heavy to carry for day hikes. We also use it at home for cutting large brush down to a managable size.

Kukri Machete
This is a great machete. No one needs a machete over 18 inches. This is 13, I think the pefect size. As for it being shipped dull, it is. But machetes arent supposed to be razors. Read more

Great for Throwing/Chopping

Cold Steel Kukri
Good machete for chopping trees and limbs. good weight. I use mine for chopping line for surveys. it holds an edge pretty well and seems to be well worth the price.
