This is a very solid case and a must have for the cold steel shovel but it has a major flaw in my opinion. This case should be made to be compatible with pals webbing or Molle compatible which ever term you are more familiar with. Being military I really wanted to strap this shovel to the outside of my pack using the molle platform but that just isn't possible. Even if they used open hole rivets I could have made it work by just tying it off with some 550 cord but again no such luck. Going to take mine in and see if I cant have some straps sewn on to make it molle compatible. Has a belt strap sewn in but really who's going to carry this thing around on a belt. Great idea poor execution.

This is a quality sheath. It fits the shovel very well. And feels very solid.
If you choose to sharpen your shovel. It will protect your gear if carried inside the pack. And will protect your pack if attached to the outside of the pack. All in all I am very happy.

This sheath was made for the Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel. Its fit is perfect, it is a well made item, made from quality material.

Works great, but I can't find any way to secure the shovel in this sheath without the foot lip or the inverted bit for the shovel handle sticking out a bit making the sheath not...sit flat.

Still, keeps it from slicing anything up and lets me hang it from my pack, so it's a win.

Does its job keep the sharp edges in check. I just wish were some more mounting points on the sheath instead of a belt loop.

If you own a "Spetnaz shovel" then you know just how handy they are to have around... but if you get a good edge on your tool, you definitely need this sheath. I didn't buy mine when I bought my shovels but once I wised up, I bought one for each of my shovels and was extremely happy with them... they are VERY sturdy and worth every penny.

This sheath will protect you from the sharpened edges of the shovel. You need it. The sheath could have better provisions for attaching it to a pack, but it is reasonable. For $10, it would be hard to make a better sheath. If you bought a Cold Steel Shovel and are not going to make your own custom sheath for it, then you really need one of these sheaths if you are going to take your shovel anywhere. "Cheap out" at your peril.

Firstly, I though it a simple design to cover the cold steel shovel. My purchase will replace a compact snow shovel from a local merchant. I prefer the metal cold steel shovel over the plastic type I bought a year earlier. I plan to use it for digging my car car out of snow & ice in an emergency. It is also a compliment to any camping or hiking trip. Also, Gerber makes a collapsable shovel, cheap nylon sheath included for long hikes or camping trips. Its a bit lighter and smaller than the cold steel shovel but equally strong made.

The Cold Steel shovel is THE shovel for any outdoors project. But anyone that has ever used it knows that it comes with knife sharp edges. This sheath is a must to hold the shovel and it stands toe-to-toe quality wise with the shovel itself. It's a must have to protect you and your gear. It's inexpensive and does it's job. It's heavy nylon that is riveted together and has a strap for carry, and straps to lock in the shovel. To be sure, you should buy this when you buy your spade.

This sheath is a necessary thing to own if you have the special forces shovel, especially if travelling anywhere. Good quality overall.
