Product Description

Product Description

As a nod to the great success of our Pendleton Lite Hunter, we have decided to make more economical versions of our popular Tanto and Outdoorsman knives. They resemble their more expensive versions in that they feature similar blades, guards, handles, and pommels. The only significant change was the use of slightly thinner 4116 Krupp Stainless Steel blades, and the implementation of less costly materials in the handles. The handles are made in two parts. They feature a Polypropylene guard, pommel, and core section, which totally envelopes the knives' full tangs. The core is then over-molded in a deeply checkered Kraton for a non-slip grip that's impervious to the elements and is easily cleaned with soap and water. To carry your knives safely and conveniently in the field, we are including a pouch-style Cordura sheath complete with belt loop so it can be easily worn on the belt or tucked into your pack or tackle box.

A durable and convenient Cordura sheath is also included.
Following the popularity and success of the Pendleton Lite Hunter knife, innovative cutlery company Cold Steel decided to make a more affordable version. Similar to the company's Tanto and Outdoorsman knives, the Tanto Lite has a two-piece handle with polypropylene guard, pommel, and core, which totally envelopes the full tangs. The core is then over-molded in a highly textured Kraton material for nonslip use and remarkably long-lasting durability. The knife cleans easily in soap and water, and a convenient, pouch-style Cordura sheath with belt loop is also included.

Very impressed with this new item in the Cold Steel line. I got it from a dealer for about the same price I see here on Amazon. For the low cost, the quality is fantastic. The knife is light, yet well-balanced. I love the full Kraton handle; great grip and good ergonomics. The blade is indeed thinner than other Cold Steel knives, and I don't know how durable the Krupp steel is, but I've read good things about it. What amazed me was the sharpness of the blade - by far the sharpest edge I've ever gotten out of a box. The knife went through multiple sheets of paper as though it was slicing air. Only the San Mai Master Tanto came close or even with that performance. My Kobun cost more than the Tanto Lite, but the only reason I now see for buying a Kobun is the thinner profile and smaller, boot-knife characteristic. My one gripe for the Tanto Lite is the weird Cordura sheath that swallows the whole knife, leaving only several inches of the handle touchable. It's strange, and it makes drawing and re-sheathing complicated. It feels like a sheath for a fillet knife instead of a fighting-style blade. (I did find that the Tanto Lite fits in the Bladetech sheath custom-made for a Master Tanto, with only a little flex.) If the Tanto Lite came with the kind of Kydex sheath the Kobun does, I'd give it 6 stars! If I wanted an all-round utility knife, I would go with something sturdier, like the Recon Tanto or GI Tanto. But as a pure cutter or fighting blade, the Tanto Lite is lightning-quick and razor-edged. Low price and Cold Steel backing - this one's a winner.

This knife came razor sharp out of the box! it is cheaper than the cold steel kobun because of the differences in the materials, but it is great for the price. If you are looking for a cheap, sharp tanto this is a great knife.

I bought this knife at a CS sale for about $20, probably the best twenty dollars I've ever spent in my life. I've used this knife as an ice pick, an axe, a brush clearer, a pry bar, and have gone through hundreds of cardboard boxes with it. Despite all of my abuse, it has chipped very little and all of the scratches on it are superficial. It stayed sharp for over a year of my usage, and sharpened relatively easily with an alumina sharpening stone when it began to get dull. Unless you want to REALLY abuse your knife by using it as a rock climbing pick or repeatedly piercing the skulls of bears, something more expensive is not justified for someone on a budget.

GREAT KNIFE. I am very happy with my knife,it came shaving sharp right out of the box.Nicely balanced for cutting and chopping as well as throwing. The handle is very grippy. The sheath is great at holding the knife either very far down or closer to the top for a quicker draw. All in all a superb value from Cold Steel.

This is a great little knife. Great looking and feels good in the hand. Its a quality piece. I wanted one of the more expensive models but I was on a budget so I purchased this lower cost cold steel tanto. Couldn't be happier. The only downside is the lackluster sheath. But in all honestly you're paying for the knife here.

The knife arrived razor sharp, and feels very sturdily constructed. Unbeatable for the price. The sheath leaves a little to be desired, but it's not a deal breaker.

Sweet, out of the box perfection. Cold Steel NEVER fails to satisfy. And I have a LOT of Cold Steel knives. This one is light, strong and oh so sharp right out of the box. The only one I like better in the price range(well a few bucks more) is the Cold Steek Kobun tanto.

This knife more closely approximates the original Cold Steel Tanto I bought back in the early 1980's with the exception of the lighter weight and materials.
