this boken is stronger compared 2 other bokens such as wood . if u make contact w/ a wooden boken from this polypropylene material. the wooden boken will shake or vibrate from the force throughout the boken, while the polypropylene material is stiff and hard knowing that it is basically industructable.

What can I say about it except that it is a nice product. I like the bokken. It is not a toy and could hurt someone if used as a weapon for defense, which I am planning on doing and to practice using a Wakazashi sword. Cold Steel sells quality products such as this piece. I might even buy the longer one. If you want a quality bokken or boken, then get one of these bad boys. Go to their website and watch the videos..Cheers.
I just wanted to add that I had the guard missing for this sword but they sent me a replacement for it..I even bought another one..Cheers

I have every Cold Steel polypropylene training blade. Some friends and I started an unofficial "chambara" club at my high school. One time, we tried using a wood bokken and it was shattered in half by the polypropylene wakazashi in it's first use (it's sad, truly). These training weapons are virtually indestructible; we have TRIED to break them, and the closest we got to breaking one is by setting it on a hand rail with two people sitting on each end of it. I don't need to convince you to buy this, but unless you plan on practicing on AIR, then you're best bet would be Cold Steel's stuff.

The Martial Arts require practice and that demands dependable tools that last long enough which in training is a lifetime. I own the Katana, Wakazashi, and Tanto Bokkens by Cold Steel. I have purchased all three because the wooden Bokken I bought before has a hairline crack about ten inches long starting at the tip and I consider it unworthy for training purposes. I am sure these by Cold Steel, the only supplier of these products that I have found, will out last me and my descendants as long as none of us uses them as a fire poker.

I like the feel of it, it goes well with my other two bokkens from cold steel. It barely fits one of my hands, but it works and is really fun when using the bokken at the same time.

Very fast to swing with type of sword design. I bought several more after my first purchase. These swing faster than the escrima polypropylenes. They are slighly lighter than the escrima ones but the design allows them to be swung much more swiftly. I think you can use these instead of escrima sticks also but you wouldn't really need to switch hands, just use them two handed style. Also, you can either tape the handle with some sort of grip tape or etch the handle with some razor blade cuts (idea from a tuber/you tuber) for better non-temporary grip surface. The grip is slippery once you start to sweat.

Cold Steel's plastic bokken are awesome, plain and simple. They take a severe beating, they're inexpensive, and they are impervious to dirt, oil, moisture, and extreme temperatures. Granted, they are not indestructible, but unless you throw it in a fire or take a hacksaw to it, it should last you for the rest of your life.My biggest complaint is that these are not made from high density plastic. In other words, they are much lighter than wooden bokken or metal training swords. This may not be a concern for some people, but I always prefer to train with stuff that is similar in weight to what I would use in actual cutting practice. Regardless, they are indispensable training tools and would also be handy in a real fight. Get a pair in each size (katana, wakizashi, and tanto) and a good training partner and you're good to go for the rest of your life.

I could have sworn i ordered the full size bokken, but when it arrived i got the wakazashi. I checked my order and sure enough tracking info. said wakazashi. It is a stout feeling bokken but i feel cheated for paying 25+ dollars for a wakasashi bokken, even if it is polypropylene, since i can get a wooden one for under ten bucks whether its full size or not.
