Book Description

August 15, 2002
Bring your paddle and travel to some of Canada's most remote lakes and rivers. As we move along you will experience the true wilderness, learning about trapping and the history of the fur trade in the early years of the twentieth century. Discover rapids, wildlife, the Arctic Circle, and unbelievable scenery as you explore Canada's vast wilderness and share sights few others will ever see.

Cold Summer Wind II offers readers a glimpse at North America's least accessible areas--the geography, wildlife, history, and the remarkable people who call it home.

About the Author

This avid explorer has paddled and portaged more than 7500 miles of Canada's Arctic and Subarctic waterways. An active outdoorsman, he has walked more than 40,000 miles during the past 34 years. 4.0 out of 5 stars Great Read in a Warm Place, January 28, 2011

This review is from: Cold Summer Wind II: 20 Years of Canoe Camping North of 60 (Paperback)
Find a nice warm spot before you start reading this book. The colorful stories told take place in the "summer" where it is not uncommon to have freezing temperatures and the occasional snow storm. These stories open up the idea of an untapped area of the planet where most people would never consider traveling. People encountered are friendly and enjoy talking. For a die hard canoe adventurer these stories are priceless. If you're not sure if you would like this book look at some of the others that I have enjoyed that are similar.
