Parrish is an amazing writer who has created a very intense thriller; it is solidly written with the right amount of romance, mystery and action.

I thoroughly enjoyed book 1, `Cold Sight' in the Extrasensory Agents series so was excited to read its sequel, `Cold Touch' and it didn't disappoint! We see all of the characters from `Cold Sight' return in this amazing sequel but this book focuses on Olivia Wainwright who has the most debilitating gift of them all, although I am sure they would call what they can do a curse rather than a gift.

Olivia is able to relive 2 minutes and 10 seconds of a dead person's life and find out how they died, she recognized she had this ability following her own death and revival at the age of 15 when she was kidnapped, murdered and revived by her savior; a 12year old who was a prisoner himself and known only to her as `Jack'.

Savannah Detective Gabe Cooper is a skeptic of those claiming psychic abilities but after seeing Olivia touch and work out the cause of death in a case he is working on, he starts to question his beliefs; he also comes to accept the bones found in a bar fire could be related to Olivia's own kidnapping.

Gabe along with his rookie partner Ty, an amazing character who bought a touch of humor to the story agree to work with eXtreme Investigations to try and solve a decade plus cold case, working together to piece together a timeline not making sense and a number of boys all disappearing with the same circumstances surrounding them.
The investigation was gruesome and detailed; what the team of eXtreme Investigations had to go through to solve it as well as others they work on would play havoc with their minds, the plot twists and turns kept the pacing even and the storyline fascinating.

Cold Touch by Leslie Parrish
Paranormal Romance -July 5th, 2011
5 stars

Olivia Wainwright has a strange gift/curse. When she touches the remains of a human, she can live through their last two minutes and ten seconds of that person's life. With her ability, Olivia is an invaluable member of the eXtreme Investigations, a team of private detectives with special abilities. Olivia's gift was activated when she was kidnapped and murdered at the age of fifteen. Since then, she has tried to live a normal life until she finds out that her kidnapper/murderer might still be at large.

Inspector Gabe Cooper of the Savannah's police force is starting to believe that there's a serial killer out there kidnapping and murdering little boys. He is investigating the mysterious remains of a murdered young boy. When Olivia shows up at the police station claiming to be able to identify the unknown boy's, Gabe has an inkling that there's a connection between her kidnapping case and the murders of the rest of little boys. To solve the crime, Gabe has no choice but to trust Olivia despite his disbelief of anything paranormal. Can the two of them stop this killer before he strikes again?

Leslie Parrish has done it again. I could not put down Cold Sight at all! This book is a riveting and tense read from start to finish. Olivia is clearly the main star of the book. Her character is so vivid and complex that you feel her trauma each time she has to use her gift. Though I understand her pain and her longing for a different life, the author has set up the story in such a way that there's no choice for Olivia but to use her gift. Without Olivia, the plot would not happen. With such a strong female character, it is inevitable that Gabe pales in comparison.

I've loved Leslie Parrish's books since I read Fade to Black, the first book in her Black CATs series. I loved the Black CATs books and have said repeatedly I want more. I also love her Extrasensory Agents books and loved Cold Sight, the first book in the series. That being said, I really think Cold Touch is my favorite Leslie Parrish book ever.

I loved both of the main characters so much. Olivia's "gift" give me chills. I can't imagine willingly touching a dead body to experience the last 2 minutes and 10 seconds of that person's life to see how they died. Gabe is so protective of everyone around him. He and Olivia are attracted to one another from their very first meeting. Once Gabe realized he had real feelings for Olivia, his protection mode went into overdrive.

I also loved Gabe's partner Ty and Olivia's co-workers and her sister. In fact, I would love to see some of the secondary characters get books in the future. I don't want to post any spoilers about this book. I can only say I felt so many different emotions as I read this story. I cheered Olivia and Gabe on from the very beginning. I laughed out loud a few times, and cried like a baby at other times. I really thought I had the bad guy figured out with about 100 pages left, but was off the mark. I love that Leslie kept me guessing and I still had to wait for the reveal.

Cold Touch is one of the best books I've read all year. It is filled with suspense, action, and romance. I personally am hoping and praying we get more books from Leslie Parrish in the future!
