About the Author
Sheldon Kaplan was born in Philadelphia.In addition to completing a Bachelors degree in Management & Marketing, he went on to become the founder owner and president of Electric Factory Concerts,one of the major producers of talent in the United States.He has promoted such artists as Elton John,Lou Rawls,B.B.King,the late Miles Davis,Janis Joplin,&Jimi Hendrix to name a few. He also produced many festivals including the Atlantic City Pop Festival,which was the stepping stone to the infamous "Woodstock Festival." In the early seventies,Kaplan gave up his lucrative career and co-founded HELP;the firsr alternative non profit social service agency in the U.S.to assist young people with drug relatedproblems.His innovative programs were written up and commended for this achievement on the front pages of the Wall Street Journal,The New York Times and The Philadelphia Inquirer.In it's 25 years of operation HELP has assisted well over 100,000 people in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas.
