4.0 out of 5 stars Affordable, simple, but fun.
This game is not a highly advanced, edge of your seat thriller. It's meant for simple family fun and that's what the game delivers. The point is to prepare delicious sundaes, ice cream cones, etc to satisfy customers and earn new recipes. There are also mini games to play in a party setting.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing like the real Coldstone
This game is just like any other cheap game. Simple minigames get so boring. When I saw "Coldstone" I was like "OMG! It's probably exactly like working at a real Coldstone where you get to measure and mix ice cream, sing songs for tips, make milkshakes and smoothies and coffee drinks, and make and decorate cakes. No instead, it's a game where you play minigames, put together a sundae, and scoop ice cream. Coldstone doesn't SCOOP ice cream! That's crazy! Coldstone is known for their mixing so a game about Coldstone Creamery should be a game about mixing ice cream and then putting it in a container.

TLDR: Don't buy it. Instead, just go to Coldstone Creamery and buy ice cream. It's much more satisfying.

Here at Coldstone we sing songs, doodah, doodah. Mixing ice cream all day long, oh doodah day.

1.0 out of 5 stars Coldstone Creamery: Shovel It Up, January 1, 2010
By

This review is from: Coldstone Scoop It Up (Video Game)
This shovel ware has about as much depth and level of presentation as an average web flash game.

The game play consists mainly of scooping ice cream and placing a topping according to the picture above each customer, which consists of roughly five flat humanoid shapes. When you run out of ingredients, you make some more by waggling.

That's essentially the entire game. As you earn money, you also get to buy bigger containers, which thankfully means you have enough ingredients to stop waggling for more as you repeat the same game play over and over. The game is so repetitive that you will soon never want to hear the three phrases "thank you", "nice", and "good job" ever again!

The game does have one fairly unique thing about it, and that's the use of two Wii remotes for control. You CAN play with one remote, but with two, they simulate both of hands: one to pick up the cone or bowl, the other to scoop the ice cream. Using two Wii remotes is an idea I have only seen in one or two other games.

Finally, things I learned about Coldstone Creamery from this game:

1) No matter where in the world you open your Coldstone Creamery, there is always another one across the street from you.

2) Coldstone Creamery is REALLY expensive. An order of ice cream can easily cost you over $100!

3) Being a Coldstone Creamery franchisee is REALLY expensive. You have to pay the corporate office thousands of dollars for the privilege of having a larger ice cream container.

4) This game might have made a passable promotional freebie, but there is no way I can recommend anyone spending money on this game.

I'm not very far into the game just yet, but it's a fun alternative to serious games or physically involved games like Wii Fit. It's not a great game, but it's not horrible. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because it was only $10 at Wal-Mart and I thought it was worth the money

This game was definitely better than I expected. My wife accidentally added it to our cue on Gamefly. Imagine my surprise when I was expecting Arkham City! Still, it's a fun little family game, and playing with a Wiimote in each hand was a really creative way to scoop ice cream, I haven't seen any other games that required using both hands. I almost didn't even try this game because of the horrible reviews here and elsewhere, but I think most of those who reviewed it didn't even try the game, or gave it only a passing glance. It takes a few minutes to get the hang of it, but before long you're slingin' cream like a pro. It's got a lot in common with Diner Dash, or any of the other cooking games on Wii. To the girl who says she works at Coldstone, nobody there has ever sung to me, but I sure picked this game up for a song: only $6.50 NEW on Amazon. This little gem is well worth the price of admission, so don't hate it before you rate it!

I brought this game about a week ago and it is so much fun. This game is not hard at all, once you start playing you won't be able to stop. My grandmother is mad because she does not know how to play the game, she says she can play but I know she's scared.I have not beat the game yet, but I am on the fourth city and I an on level 5 it's fifty levels all together. My favorite part of the game is doing the custom mode where you can mix up the 25 flavors of ice cram any way you want, also you can add different kinds of backgrounds, fruit toppings. buy different ice cream bowls and other stuff too. Guess what this game was only $20.00 can't beat that.

My granddaughter works for Coldstone. Her technique at work is very good, mixing the ice cream with the paddles and impressing the customers with her mixing abilities. But she says she's absolutely no good at the game! She's having fun with it, as are my 2 younger grandchildren, ages 6 and 3. A previous review said that an order of Coldstone ice cream can easily cost you $100. Granted, the ice cream isn't cheap; it's made in-house and the quality can't be beat. But $100? An order at a fast-food restaurant can easily cost you $100! You've gotta pick and choose what you want to spend your $100 on.
