After playing around with the idea, I finally went ahead an got a case for my Kindle. I like using my devices "naked", ie without cases, but overtime found that a case for my kindle was necessary as my commute bag is filled with things that could easily damage or scratch the surface of my reader.I wanted something that looked good but was also fairly basic and not too bulky when sitting in my bag. This case fit my criteria on all accounts. It looks great from the outside and I love the smooth and supple feel of the leather (as well as the smell) and it is truly a pleasure to hold and read without getting tired of holding. The business card holder is a nice touch in case I accidentally leave it one the bus one day. The case is also good for privacy, because, I will admit, I am one of those who gets annoyed by others beside me reading along. The one thing to be wary of is that the case will get some nicks and dents. If you look closely (from normal wear and tear) there are small cuts and scratches that happen as a matter of usage. This does not bother me, and is barely noticeable, but it may bother others and it is worthwhile to note take note of this. Now I will address some of the negative reviewers who erroneously state that this case does not fit the Kindle 2. THIS HOLDER FITS THE KINDLE 2. I will admit it is tricky to get it in. Here are the brief instructions. The top notch slides up and down to lock the Kindle securely into the cover. 1) place kindle in the bottom slot first. 2) slide down the notch on the top completely 3) slide the Kindle into the top notch 4) slide the notch back up to lock the device securely into the cover. These instructions will make more sense once you have both devices in front of you. The big point is the top notch slides down to line up with the built in slots in the Kindle.

Some folks protest that they like the feel of a book and that the Kindle doesn't have it...with this cover - it does.I've seen and handled several Kindle covers and this one is by far the best. It's comfortable and easy to handle. It does not get in the way. BTW, it looks great!

I read all of the nine reviews ... and they came in at 4-s and 5-s. I had also read some 1-s on another, similar product by Cole Haan ... how the hooks would not fit into the Kindles. So I purchased a cover, thinking that Cole Haan would have fixed any covers that were defective.I was wrong. The cover I received had hooks that would not even come close to fitting into my Kindle. I would advise against purchasing this item. Thankfully, Amazon continues to be the reputable company they've always been by honoring their guarantees. They refunded me fully. (Thanks, Amazon!) (I was hoping that the Amazon quality-control folks would have picked up on this issue from previous buyers.) So, I will save a few bucks and stick with the original Amazon cover (much less expensive and equally durable) that I purchased with my Kindle a year ago. It fit well from day one.

When I bought my Kindle (6"), I got the standard Amazon cover. It was not long before I was looking for something a bit ... nicer.I bought the Cole Haan Hand-Stained Smooth Leather Kindle Cover and was delighted by the construction. No cheapo corner clips; it attaches on the side with a strong metal clasp! I bought the cover for the look and feel, but a few months in, I keep the cover on for much much more. I'm so thankful the cover takes all the abuse and not my Kindle! Don't get me wrong, the cover still looks and feels GREAT, but I am SO GLAD I have the Cole Haan cover protecting my Kindle! The inside is soft leather with a little pocket for your business card (nice). The Kindle screen could not be more protected. The cover also flips back "behind" the Kindle (if you want) making it disappear when you are reading. Seriously, if Cole Haan made a cover like this for the 9" Kindle, I'd buy the Kindle DX in a blink! That's how much I like this cover!

Beautiful, but will need to be broken in...,

I bought this at the same time I purchased my Kindle 2 about nine months ago. Similar to other experiences I've had with Cole Haan products, the leather cover is understated, high-quality, and gorgeous. My only complaint is that there is a weird little pocket on the inside of the cover, which looks only big enough to hold something the size of 5-7 business cards. In addition to this being relatively useless from a functional standpoint, it prevents the cover from laying flat. Granted, this is more of a nuisance than a serious problem. I know it's leather and it has to probably be broken in over time, but I haven't had the patience to do that so far. I also have reservations about setting a couple of heavy books on top of an electronic device with a huge e-ink screen just to flatten out the cover. In conclusion, if you have the time to break this thing in (read: baseball glove), then I think it's perfect. If you want something functional and much more economical that works right out of the box, I'd recommend the Belkin neoprene case. I bought this one for more recreational outings (read: beach, pool) and it has become my go-to case.

The Cole Haan leather Kindle cover is perfect accessory for my Kindle. Fits easily onto the Kindle and gives the device a luxurious feel and look. The product is a little on the pricey side and although the leather is rich and smooth it scratches easily-mine scratched within days of use simply by throwing it in and out of my leather brief case.

This item protects my Kindle when dropped. It is comfortable to hold for long periods of time. My only concern is spine wear. In the month I have used this product heavily and I am starting to see the spine warp a bit. It is still a great product, proctects my Kindle and is comfortable to use.

I am a fan of both Cole Hann and the kindle so I could not pass this up. It adds a very nice feel to the kindle. For about a year, I used my kindle without any type of cover since I liked keeping it as thin as possible for carrying it with me. The cover does add some bulk, but it makes up for it by making the kindle easier to hold and gives it more of a book feel. Like all Cole Hann products, this cover is very nice. The only reason I give it 4 starts instead of 5 is that the smooth cover I have scratches very easily and I wasn't a fan of the card insert on the inside left cover. I removed mine easily enough, but you can still see that something was there, even though I removed it very carefully with seam ripper, so its a little less than perfect.

This cover got beat up almost instantly. I'm not rough on my electronics, but use this cover and put the kindle in a bag for a day, and the cover gets incredibly scuffed. It looked terrible after one day's use. Stick with a more durable cover - this isn't it.
