5.0 out of 5 stars A joy to use
The Kindle DX fits perfectly and the leather quality is excellent, the best I've seen so far in this kind of product. It's more expensive than the others but it's also a step higher in terms of built quality and feel. It's a joy to use.
On the other side, if you're planning on going backpacking or to the beach I'd strongly recommend to buy another one, something...

3.0 out of 5 stars Almost, but not quite right
I have been looking for a DX sleeve that opened lengthwise. I originally tried a book like case (a Noreve), but found the DX to be too heavy if read inside a case. I still use my Noreve for my kindle 2, and it is perfect. My first attempt at a sleeve, was the Octo. I really liked the quality and the fit, but found it inconvenient to remove the sleeve from my purse when...

5.0 out of 5 stars A joy to use, September 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cole Haan Hand-Stained Pebble Grain Leather Kindle DX Sleeve (Fits 9.7" Display, Latest and 2nd Generation Kindles), Black (Electronics)
The Kindle DX fits perfectly and the leather quality is excellent, the best I've seen so far in this kind of product. It's more expensive than the others but it's also a step higher in terms of built quality and feel. It's a joy to use.
On the other side, if you're planning on going backpacking or to the beach I'd strongly recommend to buy another one, something that will protect and also isolate your Kindle from the elements, like the Patagonia (which is also the best in it's own type).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Case, July 27, 2010

I first had an amazon case. For the kindle 2 it is great, but found it a little clunky for the dx graphite. Returned it and bought this one. Good quality, if you prefer reading the DX without a case this is a good way to go. Only potential problem I can see people having is it is snug, but for me it is not a big deal. Plus it is leather so I am assuming it will loosen up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Almost, but not quite right, February 27, 2010

I have been looking for a DX sleeve that opened lengthwise. I originally tried a book like case (a Noreve), but found the DX to be too heavy if read inside a case. I still use my Noreve for my kindle 2, and it is perfect. My first attempt at a sleeve, was the Octo. I really liked the quality and the fit, but found it inconvenient to remove the sleeve from my purse when I wanted to read. I wanted a sleeve I could leave in my purse, and just take the Kindle out. I am careful with my things and I am not worried about breaking my DX around the house, but rattling around in my purse can be a dangerous endeavor. The Cole Haan looked to be perfect - but was priced so unreasonably high I struggled with the purchase. I finally gave in, and while I am keeping it, I am not totally pleased.

The Good:
First of all I will admit it does solve my problem. I can take my DX in and out of my purse without removing the sleeve. The color is fabulous - a bright reddish orange. The case is very light, and the fit is good.

The Bad.
The quality is average for the price. There was the most horrendous Cole Haan label in a clashing yellow-orange. Not only was the color bad, but it was on the top right corner going lengthwise. Ugly, Ugly, Ugly! I took a seam ripper and removed it. That did leave tiny holes where it was sewn, but with some leather wax it is now barely noticeable, and light years better than the label. The visible seams on the sides, could have been handled better - I like the invisible seams on the Octo.

All in all, the quality of the leather Octo sleeve, is much better, for less money. But the Cole Haan does what I need it to do - and the color is great.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed, February 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This cover is not designed for the Kindle DX. It is a great disappointment to me, as I do like the aesthetics of the cover. I was forced to return it after struggling to insert, then remove the Kindle DX without damaging the side buttons. I suspect that Cole-Haan designed this cover for a smaller device like the iPad or smaller kindle, then tried to market it for the DX as an afterthought. What a great waste of my time. I am quite disappointed with both Amazon and Cole-Haan for the deception.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shame on manufacturer Cole Haan., August 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This product was bought for the sole purpose of protecting my 9.7" Kindle DX. There was no way to fit this kindle into this entirely too small sleeve. The manufacturer totally misrepresented this product. I am very disappointed that Amazon is selling this sleeve for their Kindle DX 9.7" display. The sleeve was so tight and stiff that my husband's 6" kindle "JUST" fit. Shame on Cole Haan for making this overpriced and useless Kindle sleeve.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!, August 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered this from Warehouse Deals (it was a returned item) and I was very pleased. Other people in reviews on Warehouse Deals had commented on the leather, saying that it was almost patent leather, not matte like the picture seems to show. The leather is embossed to look like snakeskin, and it's not quite 'patent leather' shiny, but it's definitely glossier than the norm for small leather accessories. The color is gorgeous, and the picture is pretty accurate in showing the color. The sleeve is lined with either suede or moleskin, not sure which but it's soft and has a little 'brushed' texture. My Kindle DX with a skin fits snugly - very snugly - in the sleeve. There is NO danger of it falling out, even if the tab wasn't tucked in. I hope that as I use it, the sleeve 'loosens up' a little because it's borderline TOO snug - I had to really work on the Kindle to get it in all the way and it was tough wiggling it out the first couple of times. With the Kindle out, I tried bending and wiggling the sleeve in an attempt to loosen it up a bit so the DX would slide in more easily, and that did seem to help. The skin may contribute too, though it doesn't add any bulk, it might make the surface harder to slide in and out. Bottom line is that this is a gorgeous, classy, secure sleeve for the DX and I'm very happy with it. I could easily give this 5 stars if it was just a TINY BIT looser to start with - as it is, 4 1/2 stars is about right.

1.0 out of 5 stars A lousy case for a Kindle, April 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered this case for my large sized Kindle, thinking it would be the best thing I could buy to protect my device. I was very disappointed. It's basically two chunks of cardboard covered with pebble-grained leather. It was difficult to squeeze the Kindle in and even more difficult to get it out. Grossly overpriced for what it is. I returned it for credit and bought a soft case with a handle that fits the Kindle for less than $10.00.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice case, but . . ., May 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Cole Haan Leather Kindle DX Sleeve is beautiful, but its a little too tight and it really needs a place to put a business card or some other identifying information, in case you were to accidently leave it somewhere. I've tried putting a business card in the sleeve with the DX and it just gets smashed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted!, May 10, 2011

I like both the look and feel of this sleeve. That's it. It is a bit gentle though - so you might want to look for something else if you carry your Kindle around a lot. This is a perfect home sleeve.
