About the Author
Dr. Barry L. Eppley is one of the most extensively trained and unique plastic surgeons in the United States. Dr. Eppley received a Doctor of Medicine degree from Washington University in St. Louis as well as a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Eppley completed training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Barnes Hospital and St. John's Mercy Medical Center Hospital. He furthered his training in General Surgery, Craniofacial and Cleft Surgery and achieved full trainign in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Indiana University. As a result of this education, Dr. Eppley is board certified in the specialties of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. As plastic surgeon, Dr. Eppley's background gives him a diverse experience and perspective to help patients with a variety of procedures, including craniofacial and maxillofacial surgeries. Dr. Eppley is a former member of University Plastic Surgeons one of the largest plastic surgery groups in the Midwest, which is based on the campus of Indiana University in Indianapolis. He was a full-time faculty member of the Medical School, and was one of the principal plastic surgeons in the Craniofacial and Cleft Program at Riley Hospital for Children, where he has performed thousands of surgeries for the correction of traumatic and congenital facial deformities. Dr. Eppley has prominent international experience in the investigation of numerous technologic advances in plastic surgery. He has been the recipient of numerous National Institute of Health and private corporate research grants for the evaluation of promising surgical technologies. He holds 10 U.S. and international patents on biomedical technologies. He has co-authored an extensive textbook entitled 'Maxillofacial Trauma and Esthetic Reconstruction', which deals with the management of facial injuries and their primary and secondary reconstruction. He is a nationally and internationally sought after speaker on numerous plastic and maxillofacial surgery topics. Hannah Eppley is the daughter of Dr. Barry Eppley. As a plastic surgeon’s child, she has a unique perspective regarding the negative impact facial deformities can have upon children, and has also been witness to the life-altering transformations the corrections of such deformities can provide. Hannah Eppley is currently a junior in high school and plans to attend university in the fall of 2014.
