5.0 out of 5 stars A non-stop musical feast for all music lovers.
The artists and selections are well-matched and the recording is superb. Some of the performances are knock-your-socks-off spectacular. Matt Zarley and Carolee Carmello, in particular, lend vocal power and emotion to their performances that should not be missed. Carole Cook has a comic timing that can not be topped. 1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment!
The various "artists" on thes discs almost without exception impose "style and interpretation" on thes songs to the extent that they are nearly buried under the egos of the performers. It is a tribute to Cole Porter's genius that some of his work survives the savaging of thes performers.

3.0 out of 5 stars passable, December 1, 2000
This review is from: Cole Porter: A Musical Toast (Benefit Concert Cast) (Audio CD)
this cd is ok. parts of it are priceless (david hyde pierce and "missus lounsbourogh goodby"), but other parts are skippable ("miss otis regrets is a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT, and "make it another old fashioned please"). they are funny, but personally, i expected something a little more classic. however, if you are a cole porter fan, you are not going to want to miss the majority of this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Set, March 22, 2002

This 2 cd set is one of my favorites. The songs are classics, and are presented marvelously by a range of performers, ranging from Broadway to television. The style in which it was recorded recreates the event for everyone listening, and the applause between tracks makes you feel as if you are really there enjoying the concert. I especially love You're the Top with Megan Mullally and the final track Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye. Don't hesitate to order these fabulous cds!

Live, musical tribute recordings are usually not my cup of tea. For the most part they have too many "skipable moments." While this production does have a few forgettable tracks, I am surprised at the amount of delightful material it contains. With the passing of time I have found myself returning often to this two CD set and thoroughly enjoying it. I'm glad it got it.

Worth the price if just for Pam Meyers and Joely Fishers performances. Quite simply the best. Any Theatre fan needs this album in their collection. All the performances are wonderful!
