For those unfamiliar with this motor; It is a rebadged Parsun or Sail outboard. It is made in china by Parsun power comp. If this information turns you off, consider that Mercurys' in the 40-50-60hp range are also made in china...take that as it may. My biggest problem was finding parts until I discovered that it is a reproduction of the 2006+ Yamaha F4SMHA and "most" parts are interchangable. All servisable parts (impeller, thermostat etc.) are identical and can be purchased at Boats.Net at a fair price. This motor has been trouble free to date and would purchase again. My only qualm with this motor is with initial starting. The fuel line going from the internal fuel tank to the carburator is quite long and uphill. If you like to drain the carb bowl after each use like I do. It would take 10+ string pulls to get it started. If you use an external tank, using the primer bulb bipasess this problem.

Good little motor for fishing. If you have never owned a outboard before, I would advise you to read the owners instructions. I read where a couple of new owners had problems starting the motor...read the instructions. I have a 12 foot Jon boat and this motor was made for the boat. This motor is a Yamaha design, most parts are interchangeable. Great little motor...

I bought this to replace a very tired Ted Williams (Tecumseh) 4.75hp 2 stroke outboard that had served our family well for 3 decades. It's a little heavier than a comparable 2 cycle outboard but works great on my old 1970 sears 11.5' rowboat. Keep in mind this is a 4 cycle outboard the throttle response is a little on the sluggish side if you compare it to your 2 cycle outboard. But for a 4 stroke this works great I have a 6 gallon remote tank on mine that lasted basically the entire season. I put a good 20 solid hours this year on it. I like that I can lump along at almost an idle and still move against the current and wind. My only gripe is the tiller is about six inches too short. Otherwise this is a nice outboard for small rowboats/jon boats.. etc. Easy to maintain. The oil and foot lube are quickly and easily changed. Setup to take a remote tank with Yamaha components it's quick to snap on your fuel line prime the motor and your good all day.
