5.0 out of 5 stars What an Awesome cooler!!!
I bought this cooler for an Oct camping trip. Little did I know it was going to stick around in the 80-85's the entire 4 days we were camping! I had brought 2 coolers with us, this one and a beer cooler. The beer cooler was melted by day 2. This one still had ice. So we transferred all the beer into this one. I'm suprised everything fit. We get, we open,... ahhh the new cooler scent! We're heading out for a 40th birthday celebration. We load the cooler and grab the handles to load in the car and !OFF POPS! a handle. Well by the end of the day we also had a broken hinge. For it's size and load capacity the carry handles and hinges are poorly designed.
All in all it kept stuff cool, however if you...

I had brought 2 coolers with us, this one and a beer cooler. The beer cooler was melted by day 2. This one still had ice. So we transferred all the beer into this one. I'm suprised everything fit. After multiple openings and closings, all the food was still cold and there was still ice in it when we left the site. I was impressed and will highly reccomend this product to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice cooler, July 21, 2008

We purchased this cooler to replace a 13-year old 100qt. Coleman that didn't seem to keep ice for more than two days while warm weather camping. This one didn't do much better with the ice in this new one. The second time out, we even tried putting all the drinks in the fridge for a day prior to putting them in the cooler as suggested. At most, we got 3 days in 90 degree heat before it was all water. However, the wheeled design is VERY nice. I'd recommend this cooler, but if you're looking to keep ice for 5 days as advertised, this just doesn't work as well as Coleman would have you believe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!! 5 day cooler? Try 7 or 8 days!, May 1, 2009

A large logo/sticker on the side of the chest says "5 Day Cooler", I have purchased some of these before and never....I say Never, has one held up like this one. The size is perfect for my boat, fits between two long couch seats. Easily maneuverable, sturdy handles, and great drain plug.

We filled up the cooler with drinks, 20ibs of ice and hit the water. Spent the day on the lake in the sun, loaded the boat and headed home. Placed the cooler in the bed of my truck under a black topper (it gets very hot under there) and six days later unloaded it to clean it out. I expected melted water, luke warm, but what I found was remaining ice! The drinks were still cold after 6 days, most of those days were in the lower 90's in Texas.

Overall a great cooler. I would suggest reinforcements for the wheels - I noticed one of mine were a little loose, but pushed it back in and seems ok for now. I do not buy a cooler to "baby" around, they definitely get used like a cooler should! I know this one will hold up well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great big cooler, August 15, 2008

This review is from: Coleman 100-Quart Xtreme Wheeled Cooler (Blue) (Sports)
The cooler came in decent condition except for the fact that one of the handles was not attached. The pins that form the hinge were missing as if it wasn't completely assembled in the factory. A bit of a pain, but an email to Coleman--although it took some time for them to respond--resulted in them sending a replacement handle and pins for free, no questions asked.

As for the cooler itself, it's massive. Sure we have smaller coolers for day trips, but when our family is on vacation this cooler will give us enough storage to last several days between trips to the store.

It has a nice tight seal on the lid, although I covet the old style metal Coleman coolers with the metal swivel lock and gasket on the lid for an airtight seal. You can get that, but it's a lot more expensive.

The wheels are not massive, but work well with the pop-up handle. Still, I wouldn't want to try to pull this through deep sand, especially fully loaded.

Overall, this is a good cooler for the money sitting near the middle of the price range for similar products of this capacity. It's a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars ICE COLD for several days!, October 23, 2008
This review is from: Coleman 100-Quart Xtreme Wheeled Cooler (Blue) (Sports)
This cooler keeps things cold for several days. It's the second Xtreme Cooler we've bought and both work great! It's the best cooler we've ever had. The wheels take up a little bit of space inside, because the wheel wells are indented, so just be aware of this. The smaller one is still plenty big inside. We upgraded to the 100 quart for the second one we bought. The wheels are very nice and it's worth giving up a little space for them. You will be very happy with this cooler!

This cooler doesn't better than the other ones I've owned, but the quality is reasonable. It keeps the ice cool for a reasonable time but they have to improve on their build quality.
And it leaks water around the drain.(I fixed that with silicone.)
But the ice last just the same as any other cooler.
Its an OK product but thats all. (I do like the wheels)

I purchased this cooler in December 2006. I have used it mostly for large family events. There are usually beverages left over, so I keep the cooler outside on the deck for about a week afterward until the beverages are gone. I have read some reviews which indicate that the cooler does not keep ice as long as advertised. I have left this cooler outside, often in direct sunlight, in the low 80s to low 90s for as long as a week. It consistently keeps ice for 5 days. Of course, much of the ice is melted, but there's still a large amount which is not melted. Even at 7 days, the beverages are still cold. The length of time it will keep ice obviously depends upon how often the lid is opened. Also, I have found that it is necessary to push the lid all the way down. It may not be noticeable to someone getting in the cooler, but if the lid is not pushed all the way down, it will be slightly open.

Regarding durability, it has been fine. No breaks, cracks or splits. I also have had no problem with the cooler leaking from the drain, as one reviewer had. Another reviewer wasn't pleased with the large handle, stating that it is too large to lift the cooler high enough while walking it. As you can see from the picture, there's also a smaller handle inside the larger handle which can be used if that is a concern.

In summary, it has been a very useful and reliable cooler for me. Other than the wheels being slighty worn after nearly 4 years of use, it still looks and performs like new. I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for a weekend camping trip!, August 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Coleman 100-Quart Xtreme Wheeled Cooler (Blue) (Sports)
I bought this cooler when I realized we were going to be camping for a weekend and needed to keep food & refreshments cold! It's huge. You'll be able to fit everything you need for sure. Just beware it's very heavy when packed with ice. The handle and wheels are great but remember you have to lift this thing in and out of your car! And remember to shut the lid tight every time. It does not close tightly unless you push it down. We still had ice left after a summer weekend away camping.

I use these at my NC home during the summer and they are fantastic! They hold in the cold and preserve the ice WAY longer than any other cooler I've ever owned. The huge space makes it an even better buy.
