If you want to blow up low pressure items (toys, beach balls, mattresses, small pools, etc.), this pump works great and VERY fast. It can also be used to deflate these items quickly and completely. However, if you want to pump up bike or car tires or hard balls like basketballs or footballs, look elsewhere. It doesn't have the oompf or the adapter to do those things. Why the previous reviewer thought it worked on bike tires, I can't imagine, since you can see from the picture that it doesn't come with the appropriate adapter. Plus, it is really just a fan, not a compressor. If you need portability, buy the 12V rechargeable one. This one needs 120 VAC current.

Functionally-
This thing inflates AND deflates low pressure things (stuff you could blow up with lung effort) in a -snap-. Filled a double- height queen bed in about 4 minutes and deflated it in about the same. This will _not_ pump anything like car/bike tires or basketballs or footballs. Comes with nozzles to adapt to most anything you might find around the pool.
Acoustically-
It is incredibly loud. It's most like tipping your vacuum cleaner back and putting your head beside it. Yes, it's that loud. My kids left the room while it was in use.
Structurally-
The bearings on it suck eggs. After using it a few times it kind of sounded buzzy and emitted the occasional screech.

Great at filling all kinds of inflatables and works very quickly. The only problem is that it is VERY loud.

This is the perfect pump to buy with the Coleman Quickbeds. The electric pump, as opposed to the 4D pump that comes with the Coleman air mattresses, does the job quickly and thoroughly.

It is a good product and easy to work with but has to much sound...

Like previous reviewers, I love this product and it works super quickly. I especially love how it deflates things like our air mattress. But yes, bring your ear plugs when you are using it, it is incredibly loud.

This pump works great. It was able to inflate a twin size air mattress in less than a minute. Would highly recommend.

Believe the other reviews- I saw that this was going to be loud but didn't think I would mind. If you have sensitive ears, forget it. I don't have a decibel meter, but this thing is painful to use and I have to believe it exceeds safe noise levels for the user who must hold the device to make it work- you can't insert this, turn it on and walk away because it will blow itself right out of the fill port. I had to put on hearing protection while using it. It inflated a Coleman air mattress in seconds, and I would have been perfectly happy to have a pump running at a third the speed and with a tenth of the noise level. I'll keep it because I don't need it often, but this is not a consumer-friendly product.

We have a lot of sleep overs at this house and we needed something that would inflate our mattress. This pump works really fast and we are very pleased with the purchase. It is loud but inflates very quickly.

I used this to inflate a 75" x 70" x 24" Swim Center Ocean Reef Pool. It worked fast and easily - inflated the entire (big!) pool in about twenty minutes. It seems well-built and had a quality sort of sound to it. I also like that it has an on/off switch, unlike other similar pumps I've used that are on when they're plugged in, and off when they're not.

Yes, this thing is a bit on the loud side, but not too bad. I'd say it's comparable to a hair-drier on high. The worst of the noise is very much directional, so you can make things quite a bit better by keeping the front of your face pointed right at the top of the pump.
