Bought this in May 2006 for $99.99 with free shipping from Amazon LLC. Well packed and quickly shipped. Carry bag is fairly sturdy and has an expansion zipper that makes for easy packing of the pieces and allows the possiblity of carrying other things in the bag with the shelter. Instructions are water-resistant coated and are permanently attached to the top inside of the carry bag so they can't be misplaced. They include a contents list and easily understood and well layed out set up instructions. Inside bag are a seperate bag for poles and another for stakes. Product description lists 5 shock-corded poles, but there are actually 15 of various sizes that join with heavy ABS plastic connectors to form a geodesic dome. Poles are powder-coated steel with spring-loaded steel cable shock-cords. Poles have steel spring tabs that lock into the ABS connector slots. 10 stakes are included, 5 steel wire for securing the legs, and 5 high impact plastic for securing the guy ropes. Canopy is light to medium rip stop nylon with tabs for the included nylon guy ropes and a nylon strap/buckle set-up on the ends to secure the canopy to the legs. Velcro tabs secure the inside top of canopy to the dome. Set-up takes about 20-30 minutes, depending upon how much "help" you have. I have mostly used this on the beach (pic in customer photo area). It easily withstands constant winds of 20 mph and has weathered gusts up to 50 mph without any problems while anchored in sand. I would have rated it a 5, but the powder-coating on the poles is pretty weak and was worn off on the ends after the first use . I rinse mine with fresh water after returning home and treat them with a rust-inhibitor after they dry, but this will be the first thing to fail eventually. Will probably end up trying to replace with carbon/graphite after they wear out. All in all this is by far the best of the 4 shade designs we have owned in the past 20 years. ALL of the others died due to wind/storm damage.

I just bought this a couple days ago & was super impressed. I put it up with just my 4 year old "helping". It was very easy to set it up & has already been through a major thunderstorm. I was afraid during the storm and kept checking on it, but it did awesome & I didn't have the extra tie supports from the top staked down! It is bigger than I expected it to be. We bought a screen house from Walmart a couple years ago & there is no comparrioson to this one (even if that was a screenhouse & this a canopy). Very happy with my purchase!

It was very easy to put together and it also goes right back into it's carrying case easily. It does not seem to block the UV rays very well but they don't advertise that it does either, like some of other canopies do.

We bought the similar tan and silver version which is UV protective - otherwise same shock corded poles design...we used for 6 days of river running on the Rogue River and this unit performed flawlessly. Easy to set up and take down, works well, was as good as rain shelter as it is for the sun. In one camp we had high winds, and had to weight down the poles to keep it planted...but is survived without any damage. We'd buy another one if we could find the same one.

The coleman geosport is very easy to setup, less than 10 minutes for one person, and very portable. I used this at a soccer tournament and it worked very well during light winds. As the weather started moving in we definitely needed to stake it down. Rain did move in and it temporarily kept the water off us, but provided a bit of shelter. The material is the same material as a normal tent which usually require an additional covering to make them waterproof. You can apply the same theory to the geosport.

Overall, I'm glad I made the purchase.

The canopy was in a smaller package then expected, which is nice for traveling to sporting events, etc. There are many pieces to the tent, and allow more time then stated for the first few times you put up. But the instructions which are attached to the carry container are well-written. The only item which was confusing was tying down with the ropes and posts.

The biggest plus we've seen so far is that unlike our last canopy, this one has a vent in the center which allows the wind to flow through, whereas the previous one we had, didn't and the frame got bent by strong winds at a soccer tournament.

The biggest negative we've seen so far is that it has tie-down ropes that extend a good bit from the actual canopy and when you use for kid's sporting events, etc, it can become a hazard for tripping. These ropes do not show up on the picture of the item when you are purchasing. We ended up removing 2 of the 4 tie-downs to avoid an accident, and it still was sturdy.

I bought this canopy about 6 years ago and it is still going strong. I have taken it on dozens of campouts, events, and have even used it as a horse shelter. I cannot believe that they do not make these anymore! Why not? If I had known they were going to discontinue them I would have bought two or three more to keep around. Every time I use mine somewhere folks come up and want to know where to get one. It is HUGE, easy to assemble and hardy. Having the second tier thingy in the center allows wind to go through rather then to build and tip over or some such, and also allows for smoke ventilation if you put it over a small campfire. This is my favorite piece of camping gear... the other items can all be replaced by similar things, but this canopy is one of a kind. Coleman, please bring this back!

Bought this two and a half years ago and it worked well at the beach and for parties. Easy to set up and sturdy in the wind. Left it up in the back yard this past summer and the Florida sun destroyed the fabric. If only I had taken it down... I recommend it but don't leave it out in the elements for extended periods. I'll be shopping for another and won't be so careless next time.

This tent looks nice and it definitely sets you apart from the rest of the shelters its pretty diffuclt to put up with two people and the legs are made of thin metal and snaps pretty easily. This is a good value but I strongly reccommend against anyone buying it. I would go with the new design Swiss Gear models that cost just a little bit more and is probably 10 times more sturdy and very easy to put together.

I had an outdoor picnic over Labor Day weekend, just a couple dozen people, and between this GeoSport shade and a few umbrellas we could enjoy the outdoors and stay out of the sun. (Or rain, if necessary.)

Easy to put together and extremely well designed. Instructions are clear and well-illustrated -- I was able to put the whole thing together on my own in about 15 minutes. Each piece snaps to the next with a satisfying *click* so you know it is in properly, all the pieces fit together, and the end result is very sturdy and breeze-resistant. I didn't even use the anchor ropes.

Some nice touches: a good, sturdy, attractive carry-bag; a pouch inside the fabric of the shade to keep the instructions in so they won't get lost; bags that fit the clearly labeled pieces of different sizes. Also very easy to break down and pack up at the end of the day -- packs up into the compact bag and stores unobtrusively in the garage or basement.

A very good investment and approximately the same price as renting a similar-sized canopy for one day.
