4.0 out of 5 stars Lot of bag for money
Typical Coleman quality. At 26.99 this is a substantial bag .Full coverage .Inside zip, non snag. 4 stars , lining could be better .

I purchased two of the Coleman Alabaster bags to zip together into one big bag for my wife and myself. We used these sleeping bags on a river trip thru desolation and Grey's canyon for six nights. On the first night the zipper on one bag unstitched from the foot (bottom end of zipper) and lost the little metal thing that is at the end of the zipper. I was able to MacGuyver it with a pair of zip off pants and finish the trip half zipped at night. Lucky we were in the desert. For thirty something bucks I think these would make a fine 'overnight guest on the couch' sleeping bag, but for anything more than that I think I'll be buying a more bomber bag. Also bought the kids 'Explorer' for my three year old...seam along non zippered side is tearing out.

Great value. I was looking for a bag that unzips all the way to do double duty as a blanket (it's been a little chilly in New Orleans lately). This bag serves well. My only complaint is that the outer shell is made of that shiny, slippery material and it rustles when the bag is placed between the bedspread and the top sheet. Otherwise, no problems and I've recommended it to friends.

This sleeping bag is comfortable. But it is not comfortable at 30º F as the manufacturer says. At 30º F I felt cold inside it. It is very good above 40º F. Apart from that it is a very good sleeping bag.

What caught my eye about this bag was that it's 39" wide. Most bags appear to be in the 33" range. Sleeping bags feel pretty confining to me so when I saw this I thought it was worth a try. I haven't used it camping yet, but slept in it on my bed and was delighted to be able to roll over so freely without feeling like I had to adjust the bag or myself during or after the roll-over. I was warm in it, but again I wasn't outside so I can't truly speak to this at this time - smart cool weather campers know to dress and sleep in layers anyway. The zipper seems to glide along quite nicely.

It's rather bulky and packing it back up took several shots but I'm getting the hang of it now. I would recommend it to those who don't want to feel so confined but still want a good bag at a reasonable price.

5.0 out of 5 stars My first sleeping bag, December 12, 2009
This review is from: Coleman Alabaster Sleeping Bag (Sports)
This was my first sleeping bag, I took it to a 3 day hike in a rainy forest, My coleman 7x7 sundome for 3 leaked a little inside (maybe because I was a noob and didn't set it up properly) and the bag managed to keep me dry and comfortable, Temperatures -1C at night and didn't even feel it. I use it almost every weekend and never had a problem so far.
Only thing about this bag is that its huge, can't fit it in my backpack.

I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Toasty and fluffy, August 27, 2009

This kept me very warm on an apocalyptically-cold July (!!!) night in Wisconsin. I had brought a mat to put between me and the cold hard ground, but my camping companion didn't have a sleeping bag (just blankets), so I lent her the mat. With no insulation I was still super toasty in this sleeping bag. It has some nice little features like fleece around the outer edge so the bag doesn't scratch your face, a sturdy zipper that practically guarantees it won't get caught on the fabric, and a little exterior pocket with Velcro closure near the head where you can keep important things.

Awesome.
