About Coleman

W.C. Coleman was a young salesman taking a stroll after a hard day’s work selling typewriters when he spotted a new type of lamplight in a drugstore window in Brockton, Alabama. This new light burned with a strong, steady white flame and was fueled by gasoline. The standard lamp of the era burned kerosene and produced a smoky, flickering, yellowish light. W.C. was stricken with very poor eyesight, and was very interested in this new, steady white light that enabled him to read even the smallest print in books and on medicine bottles. Coleman saw potential in the new light, and through his vision a new company was born that would put America’s farms and ranches in a new light, and would eventually make his name synonymous with outdoor fun.

First and foremost, I would like to address the persons post below that slept on one of these for 6 months and gave the product a bad review after it sprung a leak. This is an AIR MATTRESS that costs 30 dollars. If you are able to sleep on this for 6 months without a leak than its a quality product. On with my review.....

So, I am deployed and have been using this wonderful air mattress for around 6 months with no problems what-so-ever. I put it on top of a military cot and have a regular mattress pad to cover it with and it worked perfectly. This mattress is actually comfortable. I would rather sleep on this than one of the beds out here! I may have had to add air to this thing 3 or 4 times during the continued use over a 6 month period, but that qualifies as minimal maintenance. One morning I woke up and one of the coils had disconnected from inside the bed leaving a rather large lump. Afterwards, I decided to shell out the whopping 30 dollars again and buy a new one. Mind you, this thing did not even tear or leak when this happened and I could probably still use it if need be. So I give this inexpensive beauty a five star rating for quality and comfort.

If you really want to make it last fill it up and leave it alone for a couple of nights so the mattress can stretch out before you jump right on it.

It's a great air mattress--while it lasts. Proof? I just ordered the third one in as many years. No, we don't lay them out on bed of nails, or on rocky ground, over- or under-inflate them (we use a Coleman low pressure fan-pump to fill them), or otherwise mistreat them. And we DO enjoy sleeping on them. We always roll them up, wind the flap around them and tie it, and transport and store them in the fabric bag provided by Coleman.

And about a year later, they leak. Not a big leak, a slow one. You go to bed as comfortable as a cookie, and wake up in the morning too close to the ground for comfort. There's no hole we can ever find. They don't rip open. The seams don't split. You could get exasperated, but we're cheerful. Just get out the pump and re-inflate it for another night. After all, we're getting a lot of comfort for $40 or less.

But we aren't complacent. This year we shopped around for something that would be just as comfortable, but more durable, thinking "Maybe the leaking is inherent in the vinyl plastic." We were prepared to spend twice as much or more for the sake of the landfill. We were prepared to invest. What did we find? There are other brand-name products out there, and they are in every other way comparable, but made of coated nylon, rather than vinyl. We thought they'd be be more durable. But the reviews say otherwise. Seems you can pay twice as much and end up a slow-leaker just the same.

No shipping is nice, Amazon. And we didn't have to buy our 2012-13 Coleman air mattress at Wal-mart.

I love this mattress. I slept on one in China for a year and was completely satisfied. I have also taken this mattress camping and it is still in good shape and works effectively and efficiently.

I've only used it once and it was worth it's once use. It was so-very comfortable and I normally have issues sleeping on anything but my own bed. I expect to use it again very soon. It doesn't have a pump but I already had one. It

We had only used this bed a handful of times. We always followed the instructions to put it away properly. We didn't jump on it or abuse it. But after just under a year, the bed developed a small hole which we unable to locate. However, because of being barely within the one year warranty, we were able to contact Coleman and receive a replacement bed with little hassle.

*Coleman requires a receipt in order to go through the warranty process. This receipt was easy enough to find on Amazon. Coleman requires a picture of the damaged bed, but they paid for the shipping of the new bed. Great experience in customer service!

My wife and I slept on this quickbed for 2 weeks straight. Used a shopvac to inflate and deflate it very very quickly. After the first inflation you need to roll around on it (full weight of people sleeping on it) and let it stretch out the plastic. It will feel like it's deflating but it's just the pockets settling and expanding properly. Top it off again and it'll be good to go.

To store, just deflate, fold into thirds, fold that in half with your center above the plug, roll from top to plug removing excess air, then fold the bag around it and tie the draw strings. VERY EASY!

To open, inflate it with a raft pump or shop vac, it will unroll and open by itself. Do not over inflate though. Get it firm but not tight! You run the risk of blowing out the dimples and getting an egg in your mattress making it unusable. To make a slightly softer bed, deflate it for a split second. Trust me, air flies out quickly when fully inflated.

Following the directions properly my 250lbs and my wife (won't post her weight for marital sake but you can do the math) together had 400lbs on this mattress and we slept like babies with no problems. I suggest getting a plush mattress topper 2" thick like in my previous review and putting that on it. Makes it feel that much more like a real bed. Happy camping!
