GREAT TRAVEL COOLER,
By OTTO (LIVERPOOL, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Coleman 40-qt. Thermoelectric Cooler (Misc.)
This is the best ICELESS travel cooler around. No ice to deal with, but the optional 120v converter is an absolute must. Also, check on the internet/truck stops for a BATTERY SAVER when running in auto (shuts cooler off when battery reaches certain voltage, turns it back on after you start the car). I have used one of these for several years for hotel travel, shopping at the supermarket, or going long distances or multiple stores to keep cold stuff cold until I get it home. Great to throw some drinks in for yourself and family (better than paying $1.25-2.00 a drink in many places in the summer). PLUS, with the 120v adapter, take it right into the hotel room with all your cold food and drinks and save a lot of money on restaurant meals. Add a reasonable sized George Foreman Grill, you can make a quick meal in a snap while traveling. I have saved a LOT with it, and usually alway have one with me...WIRED a three-gang cigarette lighter in trunk direct from the battery with a battery-saver wired in-line and this is absolutely the most awesome....cooler stays in the trunk, always there for a cold drink while traveling around from place to place! You can't beat these....I remember the days of dumping and adding ice and the water mess....these are the greatest!

Nice Product (...),
By A Customer
This review is from: Coleman 40-qt. Thermoelectric Cooler (Misc.)
I have been using this cooler for a couple of years now and it works well. I like to load it up the night before an outing, plug the cooler into the wall and then simply transfer it to the car the following morning. The only caveat is to make certain you select the proper setting otherwise your cold food will be warmed to about 125 degrees in a few hours. This cooler comes with a 12volt DC car adapter but [store] is selling the same cooler for [price] with a 12volt DC car adapter AND the AC converter for home use.

An extra fridge,
By Robert J Kramer (Everett, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Coleman 40-qt. Thermoelectric Cooler (Misc.)
Have had it about 3 weeks so far and it works as expected. For indoor use, it may be almost too cold...some of my stuff was starting to freeze a little. Haven't tested the heating yet. New version supposedly has a thermostat which would be useful if using in wide temp ranges. Also, it takes a while to cool stuff that is at room temperature, so some planning is needed. Used it when I hosted a holiday party and it was nice to not have everyone going in the fridge or making a mess with ice/water. I expect it to really shine while on road trips. This unit seems to give much more bang for buck than the tiny 9 can units advertised. So far, I recommend it!

Far better than I thought,

My wife and I had bought a small thermoelectric cooler before and it was horrible. But we needed a cooler as we traveled across the USA and took the chance on it and we are glad we did. As advertised it keeps the temperature on inside about 40 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. So if you keep you car at 75 degrees the cooler inside will be about 35 degrees. We put an inside/outside thermometer in the cooler to track its inside temperature and it kept is at 45 or below, usually in the mid 30s. So much better than putting in ice. Ours came with the 110v converter so you can run it off of AC in your house or hotel, this is an absolute must. We would cool it before hand and it had no problem keeping cool in a hot car the rest of the day.
So with my highest recommendation I say buy it.

Nice Unit,
By Sam Helcher (Flint, Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Coleman 40-qt. Thermoelectric Cooler (Misc.)
The unit is just fine, but is awfully hard on the elctrical system of a regular automobile. It will kill your battery in less than two hours (if your engine is not running). Other than for that it works just fine.

Great product would recommend to all truckdrivers and any one else,
This review is from: Coleman 40-qt. Thermoelectric Cooler (Misc.)
This coleman cooler is the best cooler for truck drivers and any one else who needs a great cooler. I was a long haul truck driver and would carry all my food aboard the coleman cooler. I carried drinks, snacks, and a lot of meals in my cooler. It saved me on the high restaraunt food bills that most truck stops carry. I even used to take seafood from the east coast home to my wife in NM and the food would stay fresh as the day I bought it. I would recommend this cooler to any one who is looking for a great deal and the chance to save a bunch of money.

Truckers Dream,
By Chris Deater (Sparta, Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Coleman 40-qt. Thermoelectric Cooler (Misc.)
I have been a trucker for 22 years and the cost of restaurant food keeps going higher and higher. I've decided to purchase this cooler since ti will fit a space in my sleeper so that I may keep cold beverages and some meals I can cook for myself. I used to own a Coleman Thermoelectric cooler when they first came on the scene, but I sold mine to another trucker since I thought I wasn't going to drive anymore. To make a long story short, buying this cooler online saves me 40 to 50 dollars when purchased online vs a truck stop. Coleman makes good quality stuff. That is why I'm going to invest in this cooler.

Disappointed,

I have purchased 2 coleman 40 qt for my semi truck over the past 3 years. Each one lasted just over a year and just quit cooling.
I had an Igloo which lasted for over 4 years with the fan motor being replaced once. I will be purchasing another Igloo this time.

A Great American-Made Product,
This review is from: Coleman 40-qt. Thermoelectric Cooler (Misc.)
I love this cooler! On road trips it goes from car to hotel room without the hassle and mess of getting ice every day. Keeps drinks and sandwiches nice and cold. Also good for trips to the grocery store on days when you have a million other places to go. In order to use it away from the car it requires the 120V AC home adapter (sold separately).
One of the great things about this cooler is that it's made in the USA. I didn't have to feel guilty about buying something produced in an overseas sweatshop that utilizes slave or child labor. I feel good about the fact that human rights weren't violated in the production of this product as they are with so many imported items purchased in America today. I wish we would all consider making an effort to purchase American-made products. If each of us would just make this small effort, we could all reap the rewards of an improved economy. I've used this cooler on and off for the last several months and have never experienced any problems. In addition to cooling it can keep hot foods hot, but I haven't used that feature yet. It's very quiet, and it seems to be top quality. It requires only simple maintenance of occasionally wiping the fan clean. Read the instructions so you don't end up heating when you want cooling. Also, there's a certain order to plugging it in so that the motor isn't damaged. It's actually quite simple to use, and if you take care of it, I imagine it will provide years of service.

Great Portable Cooler,
By Julie (NYC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Coleman 40-qt. Thermoelectric Cooler (Misc.)
I've had mine for 6 months now and I use it as a spare refridgerator on the patio for my grill. It's very quiet, and keeps everything cold even when it's 90 degrees (I've never had it in direct sun). The only drawback that I can see is that it collects water, so you have to wipe the inside dry every couple of weeks. It also doesn't come with a converter for household use, and it's not widely available but you can get it if you look.
