2.0 out of 5 stars Eh. December 25, 2010

Not many rolling luggage-style coolers available, but of those that are out there, this is the most cheaply made. I used to own the fabric-sided MaxCold rolling cooler (by Igloo), which is much better made than this Coleman - but not very well insulated (ironically, there's not much "max" to that "cold"). Igloo also makes a newer, hard-sided version of the MaxCold (see the Igloo 50 qt Island Breeze Maxcold) which rolls, is much colder than the original MaxCold, and much studier than this Coleman.

As for this one though, it's plenty effective as a cooler; but the handle and the wheels are cheaply made. After my first trip out, the axle of the wheel bent on mine, and now when I pull it, it doesn't want to roll straight. Very frustrating for a cooler that cost more just because of the rolling feature. Blah. Ended up buying the Igloo to replace it, and really wished I'd have bought that one first instead. Coleman, why is half of your stuff really great while the other half is crap? Buying your products is always such a gamble, and I'm getting kinda sick of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what you need for your boat August 7, 2010
A Kid's Review
This is the perfect cooler for a boat. Ours is 24 feet, and we can have up to 13 people on it at one time...which means we can go through a LOT of drinks on a long day out. Before we used two separate coolers (each smaller than this). This will centralize all drinks (and food) in one spot on the boat, freeing up more deck space. The handle and wheels are obviously useful for the obvious reasons. We also like that this rolls tilted back - other coolers have the handles at one of the ends, which means all the ice (and drinks) shift to the left or right side during transport from the car to the boat. This one just moves things slightly towards the back, but the overall "balance" of pre-loaded ice and drinks stays pretty evenly distributed, which makes lifting this down onto the boat a lot easier. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Holds ice good, poor ergonomics August 13, 2010
By Mike
The Xtreme coolers hold ice very well - this one is no different. I have a problem with the ergonomics of the cooler - the handle is too short and the cooler constantly hits me in the back of the foot when I'm pulling it. The lid also falls off easily and is difficult to open. I own other Xtreme coolers and recommend them - just not this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good cooler but is Xtreme 5-day is a lie
This is a good, low-cost cooler. I feel for marketing hoopla of Xtreme 5-day ice keeper. At the end of 5 days you may have 10% or less of the original ice. Read more
