This is a sturdy, large sized lantern with a powerful light. I have another Coleman lantern, which is collapsible, and rather flimsy and dimly lighted compared to this lantern being reviewed. I highly recommend this item and it makes a wonderful gift that your loved one can actually use the next time their power goes out.

A very nice gadget to have around. The overall performance is very good. It feels heavy with 8 D-type batteries in it but it is bright and has some nice characteristics that make it an excellent value for the money. The only concern is the remote. It does not have the advertised range. Maybe its battery needs replacement...

I have not taken it camping, but it has been very useful during several extended periods of power outages at my house. The remote made it very easy to have it positioned in a high spot to illuminate my bedroom and be able to turn it off and on with ease.
