Worked great until it broke,

This pole was great for the 2 days that it worked. The compass in the handle is cool (but sometimes requires shaking) and the overall design is comfortable. The removable head was helpful when hiking through ice and the stabilizer worked well in mud.
I was loving every minute I had this thing until the metal gizmo that allows it to extend snapped inside. I would be willing to forgive this product, but once it fell apart and I looked inside, the design just looked flimsy. While this may have been a biased opinion (since I made it while trying to bushwhack up a mountain with a broken pole), it was certainly justified at the time. My advice: Shell out the bucks for a better one.

For those people that requires just a low end trekking pole, that does the job of stablising and support.
Its dimensions are 25.5" when collasped and 52.5" when fully extended. Its grip is made of rubber, and has this tiny compass embedded within (would require some patience in getting the correct direction, as it might get stuck when you make a sudden turn...), works well for a general sense of direction while trekking. There's shock absorption built in. Overall, a good deal for those that wants to 'try out' trekking poles before upgrading (if ever) to the better ones.

...kept me from falling a few times....very light weight and sturdy. The compass embedded in the handle is too small....if you need reading glasses like me.

Glue the tips!!,

I recently hiked rim to rim to rim in the Grand Canyon using these poles and I must say I will never hike without trekking poles again. While these were a great "intro" pair of poles, they seemed sturdy and provided plenty of support, after the first day I lost a tip on one and the other within a few days. After the tips fell out the pole itself disintegrated very quickly. I would recommend removing the tips after purchase and gluing with epoxy or JB weld. I will be returning poles for a refund due to defectiveness and probably getting a nicer pair of poles from another manufacturer. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone unless you only want to use them once.

This is a good pole for the price. One problem with the pole is that it is difficult to extend because the tubes are tight. It is easy to pull it apart because there is not detent or stop and a pain to reassemble.

Telescoping, lightweight pole makes for easy packing in luggage and backpacks. Sturdy and perfect for hiking trails in Rocky Mountain Natl Park.

Pole fine, tips not,

The poles are great, but the very first time I took them on the trail, one of the rubber tips disapeared within the first hour! I really like the compass in the handles - very useful when hiking in the mountains.

Excellent Trekking Pole, less than accomodating company.,

The only reason I do not give this trekking pole 5 stars is because after just a few weeks use, the rubber tip (that protects wooden floors, tile, etc.) from the metal tip wore out. That in and of itself would still not have been enough to lose this wonderful trekking pole a five star rating from me. Coleman, a company I usually hold in the highest regard, is the reason for the mediocre rating.
I called Coleman customer service to order a couple of replacement tips. I tend to use the trekking pole in areas where the rubber tip is the better choice. I was told by the customer service representative that Coleman did not have repalcement rubber tips because there was no demand for them. When I asked if my only oppion was to simply buy another trekking pole, she said it was. She offered no other assistance, and seemed to indicate that no replacement were available, anywhere. It took me about a minute from the time I hung up with the Coleman customer service representative to find a replacement tip here on Amazon.com. I did a search for Trekking Poles and low and behold, a couple of replacement tips showed up. I ordered the Leki Rubber Fitness Walktip -- they come packaged 2 for about $10.00 (US) -- and hoped they would fit. The Leki tips arrived today. I put one on my Coleman Trekking Pole, and it fits better and is much better designed than the original Coleman tip. I will recommend this product with reservations. If you buy one, and are planning to use it where the rubber tip is the better choice, buy the Leki tips, too. That way you won't be without your trekking pole while you wait for the replacements that Coleman can't seem to get.

I hiked to the summit of Mt. Washington with this stick and it was a blessing. I only paid $14.99 for it and I can't imagine the more high scale models that go for $100+ are all that much better. I've read reviews on some of the more expensive ones and it seems they have the same issues from time to time. Save yourself a small fortune and get yourself one of these.
