We use these all the time to start our family fire pit. I only have to use one and still work if damp. They are small and don't take up much room if you take them camping. You can't just light and pile up alot of wood or it will smother. You still have to place small kindling and build the fire up just like with any fire. If you want BIG fire immediately then don't get these get those huge fire starter logs. I think these work just as well to get the job done and again are smaller and much much cheaper.

the sticks crumble and you need to use alot. once you get them to burn they aren't bad. but i'll never use them again!!
