Awesome tent!,

We took this out to Caddo Lake State Park in TX. We absolutely love this tent.
PROS: -There wasn't a single bug that came through the netting. -It's waterproof. -The Main entrance door is very convenient to open so easily. -The built in lighting is a good plus to have, no worries of gas lanterns and fumbling for flashlights. -I like the fact that the roof is separate from the tent itself, great ventilation for warm-hot weather. Not sure if this would be a good tent for very cold weather. - Very Sturdy tent. - Fits a full size inflatable bed with MUCH room to spare. -VERY high ceiling, no more stooping over inside! - We received compliments on this tent! - Nice privacy divider, and is added protection against bugs and rain so you can have screened area open. CONS: - One of my tent poles has an issue with a locking mechanism, not a big deal. - Two people is a must in assembling this tent, or you will have a very hard time. - The sleeping accommodations are misleading. The second (Screened Part) has no floor covering, so you would get ate up with bugs, and wet when it rains. - The roof lining is a snug fit, but awkward to get on tightly. Recommendations: - Get a tarp that will fully cover the bottom of this tent, so you can sleep more people inside the screened part of tent. Plus, your floor lining will last much longer. - Repair kit is always a must so your trip won't be ruined if something happens. - You will need 8 "D" batteries for the lighting system.

LEAKS... BAD!!!,

The first night we used this a thunderstorm rolled in. It wasn't extremly sever, but it did last about an hour. Every seam leaked, horribly. By the end of the rain we had standing water in the tent. We ended up cutting our trip short, and returned it the following day. I was very unsatisfied with this tent, which is sad because all previous coleman tents I've used in the past faired nicely in the rain.

We are extremely pleased with quality of our family tent. The build in electric light is wonderful, but almost too bright. The tent was easy to set up with color coded poles. While the spring action door was a neat trick, we preferred entering through the screen porch. The screen porch was a lifesaver due to the flies at El Prado Campground in San Diego County. My only complaint, and deserves losing a star over is the screen porch. It has no floor. We relied on a tarp to make up for the lack of flooring, but that still left a gap at the bottom of the screen. So, before our next camp out, I'm going to sew in a proper floor.

Darn Rain,

Just what I was looking for. After researching many tents I came across this one. It had many cool features and it was backed by Coleman's WeartherTec System(tm) "Guaranteed to keep you dry". I was impressed by their online claims that all tents were tested in a Rain Room and also in a Wind Room. The special features also included special "leak-free" seems to protect you from the elements. The tent worked great in dry weather. The first night it rained it leaked at virtually every seem. Even the door leaked at its' seems. With sleeping bags and pillows drenched we had to sleep in the car. We knew for sure the floor of the tent was water proof since we discovered in the morning that a small pool had accumulated inside. I had to drive 45 min. out to buy tarps. I really liked the tent, I just wish it where water proof.

I searched for a tent that had a screen attached as I did not want to purchase a separate screen tent. I wanted the convince of an all in one tent. When I saw that Coleman had one, I jumped on it. This tent is fantastic! I love all the features including the tent light and hinge door. The fact that the screen portion did not have a floor was not a problem for me as most screen tents don't. The screen portion was a little small but manageable. It was very easy to set up and very easy to take down. With any tent you must always weather proof it weather it says it is or not. We did not have the time to do it with this one before our first trip and it of course did rain. The tent did leak. We called Coleman and they were very nice to work with.We loved the tent so much we exchanged it for a new one. We will be using it for years to come now that we have weather proofed it ourselves.

Great Family Tent!,
By Will (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Coleman 17- by 9-Foot 6- to 8-Person Screened Weathermaster Elite Tent (Sports)
We are a family of 5 with kids under 6, 1 at 6 months. This tent served us perfectly. The hinged door is great, the absent of the zipper sound zipping/unzipping was a plus when we need to get into the tent and not fearing waking kids up from naps or late in the evening. I didn't realize how important that remote control light would be until we tuck our kids into the tent, not having to fumble with any flashlights, we just walk out and turn off the light from the outside.
I can't comment on this tent's ability to ware off rain but we live in California and rain is a myth here so that is a moot point besides, if we see rain in the forecast or the possibility of, we'll just choose not to go camping. Setup is a breeze for this tent but it does take couple of people, took maybe 15-20 minutes for us to setup and I only needed my wife to hold up the poles on other side the last couple minutes of setup. Take down was fine but why can't tent companies make that storage bag just a few inches bigger? The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is the bare floor in the porch room, but I knew that before buying this tent and we used a tarp for the ground but a floor would be a huge plus. The place we camped at had dirt so that made things a bit dusty but nothing we couldn't overcome.

Nice, but not what I thought it was!,
This review is from: Coleman 17- by 9-Foot 6- to 8-Person Screened Weathermaster Elite Tent (Sports)
FYI, this is NOT the Elite WeatherMaster(tm) 6 Screened Tent! This is obviously an earlier version that is now discontinued... same size, same basic color scheme, but NOT quite the same features as those described on the Coleman site!
However, it is a very nice tent! :) The main indication that it's not the same tent is the color of rain rain fly, which Amazon is not showing a pic of here (right now)... so this seems borderline marketing deception. Differences from the Elite WeatherMaster(tm) 6 Screened Tent are: does not have the "Self rolling windows" featured in the video, does not have the rods to make the rain fly arch above the door and ... as previously noted ... the screen porch does not have a floor (not sure if the new version has that either tho! :D) Also, a check on Coleman.com indicates that some of the replacement parts are no longer available.. don't know if parts for the newer version would work with it. I cannot comment on usage, as I just got mine this week and set it up in the yard today. However, for the price (which I see just dropped from what I paid last week ... bummer :( ) it's a great deal. Just realize that it's not quite what you might expect if you looked at the Coleman video on Elite tents.

I have used this tent twice so far and it is one of the best camping purchases I have made. Setup is easy and the interior is spacious. My family of 7 can sleep in there just fine. We had a good rain one night and the interior stayed dry, however, as is the case with most tents now, the rainfly does not extend very low over the sides. This is to keep air flowing through the tent but I could see where if you had strong winds and sideways rain, it could be a problem. On last nit, the front door to the "screened porch" does not zip across the bottom. This also has the potential for rain blowing inside. We will brobably put a velcro strip there to solve the potential problem. I would definitely recommend as the plusses way outweigh the minuses.

Good Idea, but not well executed,
This review is from: Coleman 17- by 9-Foot 6- to 8-Person Screened Weathermaster Elite Tent (Sports)
We really wanted to love this tent, but the screen porch is not designed well. It has no floor and and no REAL wall. The screen that divides the main tent from the porch does zip all the way around, but the nylon "wall" is open on the bottom side and flaps in the wind. I would not buy this tent again.
