I recently purchased this (sadly two of them actually) bota bag from coleman expecting a quality similar to that of other coleman products. When I got it, it looked great and when filled with water did a good job holding it...until you turned the bota upright to drink from it in which case a significant amount of water leaks out from where the mouth piece SHOULD be SEALED with the bag, causing nothing but mess.

I had been using the $5 bota bag (from Wal-Mart) for many years. Recently purchased the Coleman Botabag for my hiking buddies. It turned out to be disaster. In the first hike itself, the bag started leaking and the side strap was torn! It may be one off case, but it became a pain to carry it in that hike. The quality of the cord and the cap also poor quality when compared to my $5 Wal-Mart bota bag. Not at all worth the price.

I bought this bag to take overseas, and made the mistake of not filling it before I left...When I was ready, I filled it with water, the water leaked out rappiclty from around where the top was attached...when I returned, as it was over a month and Amazon won't take a return. I wrote to Coleman, and they responded after several emails, and said if I filled out a form, and shipped it back at my expense, they would replace it. It only cost 8 bucks, and would cost me at least that to ship it. I wrote back that I thought they should pay the shipping, and they responded that I was out of luck, and perhaps I should try Amazon....I tell you that I will never buy a coleman product again, quality is terrible, and they have bad customer service....If I were you, I would give this company a wide berth.

I am very upset with the quality of this product. The so called "leather" skin is more like a suede. When it gets wet it leaves a nasty stain on the outer skin. The heavy duty cord, is a flimsy red cord that snaps easily. It has a very crude neck and mouthpiece, not to mention it leaks when you tip it up. If you are interested in purchasing this, don't. In the future I will be purchasing a more expensive model.

Despite all the warnings from other reviewers, I trusted the Coleman brand and bought this thing anyway. Don't make the same mistake I did.

I got it as a site-to-store purchase from [another company]. When I first brought it home, the Coleman 1-liter bota refused to fill at all. Water just ran all over the sink. I eventually stuck a chopstick down the neck and gingerly twirled it around. This freed up something....what, I don't know...but at least then I could put something into it if I introduced the liquid slowly enough.

The plastic trim ring around the top is constantly falling off and might as well not be there at all. The carry strap is flimsy and I don't expect it to hold up to long hiking trips, which is what I bought it for.

Once I got ready to actually use the bota, I discovered that it leaks when you tip it up, JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER REVIEWERS SAID. I'm glad I checked that before actually getting out on the trail, or I would have had to spend the day with red wine all over myself.

Do not buy it. This item is so bad, I wouldn't even accept one as a gift.

Great little pouch and very convenient! I've taken it to the Renaissance Fair, the State Fair and Road Trips to the Beach! This is one handy little bag!!! Great BUY
