This review is from: Coleman Cable 5857 Polar/Solar 16/3 SJEO 25-Foot Trouble Light with Metal Guard and Outlet (Tools & Home Improvement)
At over twenty bucks, I really hesitated to spend that much on a "trouble" light. But, after searching locally at the big box stores and local hardware stores only to find cheap Chinese junk with flimsy metal or (worse!) PLASTIC reflectors, I decided to take a chance. My other reason was that I needed a light with a grounded outlet, and none of the cheap junkie ones I found offered that option. This is a fine product. The reflector is heavy gauge metal; the 25 foot cord has very good insulation, but remains flexible- even in the cold. It also has 16 gauge wire, which allows plugging in most portable power tools without concern of overloading the cord. The switch seems solid and the socket was truly round, not oval like several of the cheaper ones mentioned above. I recommend this if you are looking for a quality product. It IS worth the cost. What more do you want from a trouble light?

Bought this for my dad on fathers day as he had a failing fluorescent light that was plastic and cheap. This one feels like the one he had when I was a kid. It's well made, heavy, and uses steel vs. plastic which a "trouble" light should have. For those wanting to avoid heat, I put in a fluorescent light to give him the best of both worlds, solid construction and a cool heat shield in case he were to bump into it. Great for those who don't want to keep replacing the cheap plastic trouble lights.

Sturdy and durable engineering. As other reviewers said, this isn't some cheap junk.Minor gripe: the metal guard/cage is awkward to unfasten (to insert or change the light bulb). I had to carefully tap it with a hammer to get it to open. Surely a less annoying design could have been implemented.
