5.0 out of 5 stars Great Extension Cord
I bought this Extension cord to work with my Toro 38025 1800 Power Curve Snow Thrower I got from Amazon. I was a bit hesitant at first thinking I really didnt need 100 feet but now after 18 inches of Snow today im glad I got it. This cord works great! The color makes it very easy to see in the snow and with the added length I was able to clear Snow all the way to the back...

3.0 out of 5 stars purchase with caution
Like the other reviewer, I bought this to use with my toro powercurve snowblower. It worked fine except the female end of the extension cord never fit properly with the toro's male connector. This review is from: Coleman Cable 01489 14/3 Insulated Outdoor Extension Cord with Lighted End, 100-Foot (Tools & Home Improvement)
Like the other reviewer, I bought this to use with my toro powercurve snowblower. It worked fine except the female end of the extension cord never fit properly with the toro's male connector. The connector blocks are entirely molded which seems to be a good idea for water/weatherproofing, but it was just too big. I had to jam them together and it frequently disconnected. (I was using the toro's cord lock system properly).

Anyway, I tried it out this fall with a toro electric vac/blower, and had the same problem, only this time I ended up with some melted plastic and some really nasty smelling smoke. It turns out that the connectors inside the female end of this cord are placed very far back into the molded block and there was very little surface area of actual plug contact, which led to the problem. (I was using the cord lock correctly with this one, too).

It could just be an issue with toro electric power tools but just be aware. Other than that, seemed to be a pretty decent cord - didn't kink a lot and I ran over it a couple of times with the snowblower and I'm still here writing this, so it's fairly tough as well... Can't give it more than 3 stars because of the odd female plug design.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cord for all uses., June 20, 2000

This cord is really helpful. The way the end glows when plugged in is a timesaver, especially if you have several lines plugged into one another. All you have to do is look and the end, and if it is lit, you know you have juice. And it will deliver plenty of power so you know you won't burn up your expensive tools and equiptment.

5.0 out of 5 stars coleman solar extension cable, September 28, 2003

American made, good quality cable. The color makes it stand out outdoors so it is easy to spot, the clear connecting end is lit when power is present, so you know if it is plugged in.

Product is totally as described, strong, delivers power without heating up and stayed supple and flexible even below freezing, used for a snow blower throughout New England's 2008-2009 winter season.

3.0 out of 5 stars Opinion, April 24, 2009

I purchased the 14-gauge Coleman Cable Polar/Solar 100-ft. cord for an electric lawn mower. With vinyl cords I have experienced sever coiling of the cord after some use because of turning the mower from one side to the other in normal use. At this time I've had insufficient time to experience whether this will happen with this cord sheathed in Neoprene. I purchased this particular cord to avoid this condition thinking maybe the wires were wound differently than with vinyl cords. Thus far though, in ordinary use I find it just as ornery with interlooping as the vinyl type. Although it should be lighter in weight, it doesn't appear to be. Year's ago when a 16-gauge without a ground was specified for this use, there was no trouble like I've experienced with 14-gauge three-wire cords.

I bought this to go with the snow blower I bought on the same day. It didn't snow enough to use the snowblower and power cord for over 30 days after I purchased the set. It appeared very sturdy as it is designed for outdoor use. The FIRST time I used this, the power cord casing split to reveal the inner insulation. It had not caught on anything and it was not near any sharp objects. It split just from lengthening the power cord to give more slack for using the snow blower, somehow, the cord twisted and split. For the price, I would not expect this product to split on the first use. I called the manufacturer (after much searching for the contact information) and they told me that since I bought it through Amazon, I would have to return it through Amazon. Amazon will not give a refund or exchange for the product since it was outside of the 30 days, even though this was the first use. In response to my complaint about this product, I got a form email and a suggestion to go to the manufacturer. I am very disappointed in the product and how poorly Amazon fights for its customers. Think twice before making big purchases on here outside of books and DVD's. I hope Amazon considers adjusting their customer service form emails to at least make it look like the person sending it actually read the original email to them about the situation.

Very good with my Toro electric snowblower. It stays flexible at low temperatures so it is easy to wind and unwind in the cold.

What can one say about a silly extension cord? Well, it's long enough and hasn't broken. I really didn't shop around, just looked at what other folks who had bought the Toro 1800 electric snowblower and decided to put my full trust on the collective wisdom of cyber-users.
So far, that bet has paid off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most excellent extention cord........<UPDATE>, December 27, 2009

What is to be said? This is an extension cord. The item arrived as described, A male Edison (3 prongs!!) connection on one end and a matching female one on the other. There was electrical cable between the two. I tried to plug it in and it went in the socket easily and electricity came out of the other end. It was described as being 100 feet long but the one I received was an inch and a half longer so you get better reach than advertised.

It is well made and can be used to plug all kinds of things to an electrical socket. I tried it out and it is Windows 7 compatible and should work well with XP also. Due to the strength of its construction, it could also be used for many other things like tying up hostages or securing dogs.

If you need to get electricity from point "A" to point "B" at a distance of up to 100' 1.5" then this is the tool for you. AND IT"S YELLOW which is always such a fun color!

UPDATE >> After owning this cord for a couple of months, my house was struck by lightning. HUGE lightning strike! This fine cord was plugged in at the time and connected to some computer equipment I was working on. The cord did it's job and conducted the entire lightning strike directly into my computer! Now that's quality manufacture. It's only rated for 110 volts and 13 amps but it worked for a short time at 10,000,000 volts and 90,000 amps! Blew the smoking shinola out of the computer but the cord still works! The lighted end was cool as it got most impressively bright right before it went supernova.

This thing is designed to conduct electricity but the cool thing is that it works well for high energy plasma also! How cool is that?
